EASTON, Mass.-- Sophomore Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, Mass.) netted a goal and an assist as seventh-ranked Stonehill matched the longest winning streak in school history with its seventh straight triumph in posting a 2-0 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over Merrimack Wednesday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium.
Gleason gave the host Skyhawks (11-2, 9-2 Northeast-10), who are ranked third in the NCAA North Regional poll released earlier today, the only goal they would need in the 21st minute of play when she converted feeds from juniors Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass.) and Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine) off a penalty corner. Freshman Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.) provided an insurance marker for Stonehill in the 46th minute of action when she converted passes from Gleason and sophomore Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) to close out the scoring.
Sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.), who was named on Monday as the Northeast-10 Goalkeeper of the Week for the third time this season, made three saves to pick up her sixth shutout win of the season in goal for Stonehill, while sophomore Amy Larrabee (Stratham, N.H.) made a pair of stops in net for the visiting Warriors (7-6, 6-6 Northeast-10) as the Skyhawks outshot Merrimack by a slim 5-4 margin for the match.
Stonehill hosts Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 outing on Saturday morning at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 10:30 a.m., while Merrimack hosts ninth-ranked Saint Michael’s in a Northeast-10 match on Saturday afternoon in North Andover, Mass. beginning at 1:00 p.m.
