MANSFIELD, Pa.-- Junior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine) scored a pair of goals to as Stonehill used three first half tallies to post a 3-0 non-league college field hockey victory over Mansfield in the season opener for both teams Saturday afternoon at Spaulding Field.

The visiting Skyhawks (1-0) scored three times in the first 24-plus minutes of play to post the triumph, as sophomore Aly Boulis (Lincoln, R.I.) gave Stonehill the only goal it would need just 5:06 into the contest on a feed from fellow sophomore Ashley Freeman (White River Jct., Vt.). Latendresse extended the Skyhawks’ lead to 2-0 just 2:02 later by converting a penalty corner and closed out the scoring at the 24:42 mark on her second unassisted tally of the match.

Sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Stonehill with a four-save effort over 66-plus minutes of action to record her 10th career shutout, as freshman Sara Piper (Hollis, N.H.) was not called upon to make a save over the final four minutes of play.

Freshman Brianna DeLuca (West Grove, Pa.) made 11 saves in goal in her collegiate debut for the host Mountaineers (0-1), as the Skyhawks held a commanding 23-5 edge in shots on goal over Mansfield for the contest. The win was Stonehill’s second straight in the season opener over the Mountaineers, as the Skyhawks posted a 9-0 triumph over Mansfield in the 2004 lid-lifter.

Stonehill hosts Saint Anselm in its Northeast-10 Conference opener on Wednesday afternoon at W.B. Mason Stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m., while Mansfield hosts Bryant in a non-league match on Sunday afternoon at Spaulding Field beginning at 1:00 p.m.
