EASTON, Mass.-- Junior All-America Kelly Latendresse (Sidney, Maine) and freshman Kara Brady (Eastham, Mass.) each notched a goal and an assist to lead seventh-ranked Stonehill to a 4-1 Northeast-10 Conference field hockey victory over Assumption Wednesday evening at W.B. Mason Stadium.
Tallies by sophomore Caitlin Gleason (New Boston, N.H.) and junior Courtney Campbell (Reading, Mass.) in the first 10:55 of play staked the host Skyhawks (7-2, 5-2 Northeast-10) to an early 2-0 advantage, but the visiting Greyhounds (6-5, 5-5 Northeast-10) sliced their deficit in half in the 20th minute when senior Megan Atkins (Weybridge, Vt.) converted a feed from junior Laura DuBois (Sudbury, Mass.). Brady extended Stonehill’s edge to 3-1 in the 46th minute of play with her first collegiate marker, and Latendresse closed out the scoring for the hosts with just under seven minutes remaining on a feed from freshman Kerri Sullivan (Goffstown, N.H.). Stonehill, which ran its winning streak to three straight, also received an assist from sophomore Morgan Davis (Walpole, Mass.).
Sophomore Dani Ryder (Gloucester, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Stonehill with a four-save effort, while freshman Jacque DuLong (Merrimack, N.H.) made nine stops in net for Assumption as the Skyhawks outshot the Greyhounds by a 16-7 margin.
Stonehill travels to Smithfield, R.I. on Sunday morning to take on Bryant in a Northeast-10 outing that begins at 11:00 a.m., while Assumption will be idle until next Thursday afternoon when the Greyhounds host American International in a Northeast-10 match in Worcester, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.
