The Skyhawks played in its first NE-10 Championship game and the Skyhawks defense led the league in takeaways (30). Stonehill’s defense also ranked second in the NE-10 for scoring defense (24.3 ppg) and passing defense (246.8 yds/gm), while ranking third for interceptions (16).

Sazo joined the Stonehill coaching staff after serving two years as an equipment intern with the New York Jets. He set up and prepared practice drills for team positions throughout the season as well as offseason football related activities such as rookie mini camp, mini camp and training camp and was an active member in all positional practice exercises assisting the defensive coordinator and defensive backs unit. Sazo, a 2011 graduate of the University of Connecticut, served as a student manager for the Huskies football program during his undergraduate years. He facilitated practice drills and helped prepare game day equipment for the entire season which included trips to three bowl games, including the 2011 Fiesta Bowl.
