Israel Abraham is entering his third season as assistant coach with the Stonehill football program. He will take over as special teams coordinator for the Skyhawks in 2014, while continuing as position coach for the running backs for the third-straight year.

Stonehill posted its best season in nearly 20 years in 2013 as it finished with its first winning season since 1996 and earned a share of the Northeast-10 Conference regular season championship. The Skyhawks played in its first NE-10 Championship game, gaining over 1,300 yards on the ground in 2012 with two running backs going over 500 yards and averaging more than four yards per carry. The Skyhawks averaged over 119 yards rushing per game and produced 12 touchdowns from the rushing attack. Sophomore running back Colin Markus finished the year ranked fifth in the NE-10 for yards per game (7.1) and fourth with 5.4 yards per carry.

Stonehill showed good depth at the running back position in his first season in 2012 with a pair of 400-yard rushers as the Skyhawks averaged 101.6 yards per game on the ground while throwing the ball 36 times per game.

Abraham joined the coaching staff at Stonehill following a four year career as a student-athlete at Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. He played two seasons at cornerback before switching to fullback for his final two seasons as the Gulls captured the New England Football Conference Championship in 2010 to earn the program's first NCAA Tournament bid and then won the ECAC North Bowl in 2011.

While completing his undergraduate degree, Abraham completed an internship in the Boston Celtics community relations office. He has worked as a counselor at the YMCA in Stoughton, Mass., and got an introduction to coaching in 2008 with the Canton High School varsity football summer league. Abraham was also assistant basketball coach at Canton High in January 2010.

Abraham, a native of Canton, Mass., earned his Bachelor's Degree in liberal studies at Endicott in 2012.
