EASTON, Mass. (September 9, 2019) – Two Stonehill College football seniors have received weekly honors for their efforts in leading the Skyhawks to a 33-14 season-opening win at Bloomsburg (Pa.) University on Saturday, the league office announced today.
Senior wide receiver Andrew Jamiel was been named the NE10's Offensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career, while senior placekicker Matt Haite received Special Teams Player of the Week accolades for the second time. The duo helped lead a Stonehill offense that piled up 466 total yards, scoring 26-straight points at one stage to take control of the game.
Jamiel posted the 12th 100-yard receiving game of his career as he caught nine passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns. He registered six catches for 94 yards and a score in the first half alone as Stonehill staked out a 24-7 halftime lead. Jamiel opened the scoring when he capped the opening drive of the game with an 11-yard touchdown catch and then his 22-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter gave the Skyhawks a 33-7 lead.
Jamiel leads the NE10 after the opening week with his nine receptions, 129 receiving yards and two touchdown catches. He is third in the Conference with his 144 all-purpose yards and tied for first in scoring with 12 points.

Jamiel's two touchdown catches on Saturday give him 25 for his career, matching the program record set by Nate Robitaille, '16. He also moved within 32-yards of matching Robitaille's career record of 2,744 receiving yards, having posted 2,712 yards on a program-record 242 receptions in 30 career games. Jamiel is a three-time All-NE10 selection, earning first team honors and New England Football Writers Division II/III All-Star accolades as a sophomore. He collected second team All-NE10 honors as a freshman and junior, being named the NE10 Rookie of the Year in 2016 when he matched the program record with 91 receptions, just two shy of the NCAA Division II record for freshman, leading the Division with 9.1 receptions per game. Jamiel smashed the program single-game mark when he posted an NE10 record 294 receiving yards against Pace University in 2017, matching the program and NE10 mark with five touchdown catches, and also matching his own program mark of 18 receptions.
Haite scored nine points on Saturday by converting two field goals and three extra points in the Stonehill win. He sandwiched halftime with field goals of 32 and 31 yards as Stonehill was in the midst of scoring 26-straight points to take control of the game. He also helped the Skyhawks control field position by averaging 59.8 yards on his six kickoffs, with three touchbacks.
Haite leads the NE10 after the opening weekend in scoring amongst kickers with the nine points, sharing the Conference lead in field goals, to go with a league-high three extra points, while ranking third among NE10 scoring leaders, overall.
Haite, a third team All-NE10 selection last fall, now ranks second in program history with 31 career field goals – just two shy of the program record of 33 by Steve Grzywacz, '16. He enters this week's game ranked third in program history with 178 points and 85 PAT conversions, sitting two behind Pat Matthews, '96 for second all-time. Haite has converted 92.4-percent of his PAT attempts for his career, which ranks second in program history, while his 70.5-percent conversion rate on field goals also ranks second all-time.
Haite has been named to the Fred Mitchell Award "Watch List" three times over his Stonehill career, and earned NE10 Academic All-Conference honors as a junior. He has been named to the NE10 Academic Honor Roll all six semesters to date and Athletic Director's Honor Roll four times. Haite was an NE10 All-Rookie pick as a freshman.
Stonehill (1-0, 0-0 NE10) is back in action on Saturday, when it hosts the University of New Haven (0-1, 0-0 NE10) for a non-conference matchup as part of Family Weekend at W.B. Mason Stadium at 2:30 p.m. Please note the time change from the earlier posted time.
