Five different Falcons reach end zone against rivals
WALTHAM, Mass. (October 20, 2018) – Bentley University got touchdowns from five different players to claim a 38-10 victory over rival Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference football action at Bentley Football Stadium today.
Bentley used a balanced offensive attack to record 516 yards of total offense and control the clock with 37:40 time of possession. The Falcons finished with 289 rushing yards, keyed by 100-yard games from sophomore Tommy Wilson with 104 yards on just five carries and a touchdown, while junior Jordan Artope added 22 carries for 100 yards and a score.
Sophomore Stephen Sturm completed 14-of-24 passes for 227 yards and two more touchdowns for the Bentley effort through the air. Freshman Noah Neville caught five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown, while sophomore Andrew Brazicki added 87 yards on four receptions and a score.
Sophomore Marc Doran paced the Bentley defense with six tackles (two solo), including 1.0 for a loss of a yard. Junior Ethan Stewart and sophomore Charlie Tordik each logged sacks for the Falcons, while juniors Peter Thorbahn and Will Sheriffs collected interceptions. Thorbahn also registered five stops (two solo).
Junior Brian Kearns, Jr. paced the Stonehill offense with 104 all-purpose yards, rushing the ball 17 times for 93 yards and a touchdown, also collecting an 11-yard reception. The rushing touchdown is the 20th of his career to move within four of Eddie Vachon's '11 record of 24, while his 22 career touchdowns are good for seventh all-time behind Vachon's' mark of 34.
Freshman Justin Felder added 49 yards on 11 carries. Junior Andrew Jamiel chipped in with three receptions for 41 yards to move within 15 yards of receivers coach John Gomes '13 for second place on the program's all-time list.

Sophomore Nate Bresson led the Stonehill defense with a career-high 12 tackles (eight solo), including a career-best 4.5 tackles for a loss of 16 yards, a career-high 2.5 sacks for a loss of 14 and a QB hurry. Senior John Ejiofor also logged double-figure tackle totals for the first time in his career with a career-high ten stops (three solo) and a sack.
Stonehill struck first, with Kearns, Jr. surging across the goal line from three yards out just five plays into the game. He logged 56 of the Skyhawks 80 yards on the drive, including a 47-yard run on the first play from scrimmage, while Jamiel added a 24-yard reception.
Bentley needed just three plays to answer, with Wilson hitting for a 65-yard touchdown run to even the score at a touchdown apiece less than three minutes into the game. The Falcons scored on five of its first six possessions in the game, missing a field goal just before halftime on the other. Junior Ryan McCarthy put the Falcons in front for good with a two-yard touchdown run with 5:59 to play in the opening quarter.
Junior Matt Haite pulled Stonehill within 14-10 with a 25-yard field goal 41-seconds into the second quarter, but Bentley again answered, with junior Grant Buchanan converting an 18-yard field goal on the ensuing possession. Buchanan would miss on a 35-yard attempt later in the quarter with a chance to open a ten-point halftime lead.
Bentley would keep the pressure on, though, with Artope capping a 12-play, 75-yard drive with a two-yard touchdown run on the opening drive of the second half. Sturm followed by connecting with Brazicki on a 50-yard touchdown pass with 5:54 left in the third quarter. Sturm capped the scoring with a 24-yard touchdown pass to Neville less than six minutes into the fourth quarter.
Stonehill (1-6, 1-5 NE10) is back in action next Saturday, when it hosts the University of New Haven for their Alumni Game at W.B. Mason Stadium at 1 p.m. Bentley (2-5, 2-4 NE10) visits Saint Anselm College next Saturday at 6 p.m.
