The Game Stonehill heads back out on the road for the second to last time this season when it visits rival Bentley University for a Northeast-10 Conference battle at Bentley Football Stadium this afternoon. The Skyhawks are looking to put an end to a string of four-straight losses after a 38-24 setback to Merrimack College in Easton last Saturday night. The Falcons have also dropped their last four after a 23-20 overtime loss to Pace University here last Saturday. One of the Best Small College Rivalries in the Country This afternoon marks the 34th meeting all-time between these two programs in what is regarded by some as one of the best small college football rivalries in the country. Bentley holds a 22-10-1 advantage in the all-time series, but Stonehill has won two straigth and five of the last six after a 41-35 overtime triumph in Easton last season. Since losing 14-straight to Bentley between 1995 and 2008, Stonehill has gone 7-4 against the Falcons since. He's Honored Junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) earned a spot on the Northeast-10 Conference's weekly honor roll for his efforts in Saturday night's 38-24 loss to Merrimack. Kearns, Jr. led the Skyhawks with 36 carries for a season-high 235 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for another 13 yards. Kearns, Jr. reached the end zone for the third straight week, scoring from a yard out in the second quarter and then on a 44-yard run in the fourth quarter. Ace's Athlete of the Week Junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) earned Stonehill's Champion's Choice Male Student-Athlete of the Week award for the second time this season for his efforts against Merrimack Saturday night. Kearns, Jr. is the only football student-athlete this season to earn the athletic department's weekly honor, collecting the honors for the third time in his career. Feed Me More Falcon Junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) has averaged 133.3 yards per game in three previous meetings with Bentley over his career, averaging 162.7 all-purpose yards and scoring four touchdowns. He ran for a career-high 243 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Skyhawks to an overtime win over the Falcons last season. His first career 100-yard game came in the Skyhawks win on NE10 Championship Weekend in 2016, finishing with 105-yards on 18 carries, while also adding another 64 yards on two receptions and a touchdown. Back-to-Back 100s Junior Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) surpassed 100 receiving yards for the second-straight week with his nine catches for 103 yards against Merrimack in Saturday night. It marks the third time in his career he has recorded 100-plus yards in back to back games, doing so in week one and two, as well as weeks well as nine and ten in 2017. Jamiel has posted 100-plus yards 11 times in his 25 career games played, including a program-record 294 yards against Pace last season. The Workhorse Junior running back Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) has posted two of the top four single-game rushing totals in program history after posting a season-high 235 yards against Merrimack Saturday night. He also owns two of the top four single-game totals for carries in program history with his 36 attempts on Saturday night. He posted a program-record 44 carries in Stonehill's week two win at Saint Anselm. Kearns, Jr. logged a career-best 243 yards against Bentley last season - just seven yards shy of the program record. Including his two career 200-yard rushing games, he has surpassed 100 rushing yards five times in his career. End Zone Crew Juniors Andrew Jamiel (Yarmouth, Mass.) and Brian Kearns, Jr. (North Arlington, N.J.) both continue to move up Stonehill scoring charts. Jamiel ranks second all-time in program history with his 23 career touchdown receptions - just two shy of Nate Robitaille '15's career record of 25. Kearns, Jr. has scor 19 career rushing touchdowns to move into second all-time - five shy of Eddie Vachon '11's career mark of 24 rushing touchdowns. Jamiel (23) and Kearns, Jr. (23) rank fifth and seventh, respectively, for career touchdowns scored in program history, a record held by Vachon (34). Disciplined Stonehill ranks second in the NE10 and sixth nationally in Division II for fewest penalty yards per game, giving away 38.0-yards per game on 4.8 flags per game, which ranks third in the NE10 and 12th nationally.
