EASTON, Mass. (November 21, 2017) – Stonehill College placed two freshman linemen on the Northeast-10 Conference football All-Rookie Team, as selected by the league's ten head coaches, the NE10 announced today.

Freshmen Nate Bresson (Torrington, Connecticut/Torrington) and Matthew Marvin (Goshen, New York/Goshen Central) both earned a spot on the NE10 All-Rookie Team after having an impact for the Stonehill football team during their freshman seasons. The duo give the football program 19 All-Rookie Team selections since the Conference started the All-Rookie program in 2008.

Bresson started all ten games at defensive end for Stonehill this season, leading all freshmen with 39 tackles, including 20 solo, with a team-high 8.0 tackles for a loss of 21 yards, 1.0 sacks for a loss of three, and a pass breakup, ranking 12th among NE10 leaders for tackles for loss. He recorded a season-high 11 tackles, including seven solo, with 2.0 tackles for a loss of two yards, at LIU Post on September 16. Bresson followed that up with a season-best 3.0 tackles for a loss of seven yards and a breakup in the Skyhawks 28-14 win over Saint Anselm College on September 23, finishing with six tackles overall.

Marvin appeared in five games, starting the final four games of the season, for Stonehill at right guard. He was a member of a Skyhawks offensive line that paved the way for an offense that ranks third in the NE10 for scoring with 31.6 points per game, while ranking fifth in total offense at 387.6 yards per game. Stonehill ranks fifth in the NE10 with 247.2 passing yards per game (40th nationally), with the line yielding the third-fewest sacks per game (1.20) in the NE10 – ranking 30th nationally in Division II.

Stonehill capped its 2017 season with a 6-4 record overall, marking its third finish above .500 over the last five years, including a 5-4 mark in the NE10, with its fourth winning season in Conference play over the last six years.
