New England Football Writers Division II/III All-Star announcement

EASTON, Mass. (November 28, 2016) – Stonehill College sophomore tight end Kaleb Lutton (Middletown, Connecticut/Xavier) has earned a spot on the New England Football Writers' Division II/III All-Star team, the organization announced today. Lutton is among nine Northeast-10 Conference student-athletes selected to the All-New England team and is the first offensive player from Stonehill selected since Nate Robitaille '15 in 2013.

Lutton, a two-time All-Northeast-10 selection after earning first team honors for the first time this fall, is named a New England Division II/III All-Star for the first time by the New England Football Writers. He is Stonehill's first All-New England honoree since punter Ryan Handy '15 was selected following the 2014 season and the seventh since 2010. The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 8, at the Montvale Plaza, in Stoneham, Massachusetts.

Lutton, who also collected NE-10 All-Rookie Team honors as a freshman, finished his sophomore season second on the team with 45 receptions and 539 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 12.0 yards per catch and finished the season ranked 13th among NE-10 leaders for receptions and receiving yards and eighth in yards per catch. Lutton posted his second career 100-yard receiving game with a season-high 125 yards on a season-best seven catches in Stonehill's 21-17 win over the University of New Haven, which was streamed live via ESPN3/Watch ESPN, on October 15. He added six receptions for 55 yards and his lone touchdown of the year, which was the game winning score in overtime, in the Skyhawks 17-10 victory at Pace University on November 5.

Lutton has played all 22 games over his two seasons at Stonehill, starting 14, including the last nine games of the 2016 season, totaling 72 receptions for 884 yards and nine touchdowns. His eight touchdown receptions as a freshman led the Skyhawks in 2015 and he is averaging 12.3 yards per catch and 40.2 receiving yards per game over his career. He will enter his junior year ranked 14th in program history for receiving yards and 13th for receptions and receiving touchdowns. Lutton posted his first career 100-yard game in Stonehill's 40-37 win at LIU Post in 2015, when he had career-high totals of eight receptions, 131 yards and three touchdowns.

Stonehill finished its first season under head coach Eli Gardner with a 5-6 record overall, including 4-5 in the Northeast-10 to finish in sixth place, winning its last two games of the season and five of its last eight overall. The Skyhawks capped the season with a 38-21 triumph at rival Bentley University in the No. 5 vs. 6-seed game as part of the NE-10's Championship Weekend.
