Foltz earns Offensive Player of the Week honors for third time in career

EASTON, Mass. (September 26, 2016) – Stonehill College's passing/receiving combination of junior quarterback Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pennsylvania/The Hill School) and freshman wide receiver Andrew Jamiel (West Yarmouth, Massachusetts/Dennis-Yarmouth) have collected weekly football honors from the Northeast-10 Conference, the league announced this afternoon.
Foltz earns NE-10 Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time this season and third time over his career after leading Stonehill to its 45-34 victory at Saint Anselm College in the "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" with a school-record 448 yards of total offense. He completed 21-of-36 passes for a season-high 330 yards and five touchdowns, while adding seven carries for a career-best 118 yards on the ground.
Foltz broke his own previous single-game mark for total offense of 401 yards at LIU Post last season, his 330 passing yards are the sixth-highest single-game total in program history and his five touchdown passes fell just one shy of the single game mark. He engineered a Stonehill offense which finished with 531 yards of total offense, marking the first time the Skyhawks have surpassed 500 total yards in three seasons. Foltz completed touchdown passes of 29, 17, 26, 69 and 35 yards, connecting with eight different receivers on the day and leading the Skyhawks to scores on their first three possessions and four of the first five.
Jamiel earns NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors for the second time after posting his third straight double-figure reception game with ten catches for a season-high 153 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Saint Anselm. He recorded his second 200-yard all-purpose game of the season with 203 yards as he added three kick returns for another 47 yards. Jamiel capped the Skyhawks first possession with a 29 yard touchdown reception from Foltz and then opened the second half with a 69-yard catch and run for a score.
Foltz ranks third in the Northeast-10 with 255.5 passing yards per game as he surpassed 1,000 yards passing for the second straight year on Saturday. He is fifth in the NE-10 for completion percentage (60.7-percent) and touchdown passes (7), having also added a team-high three rushing touchdowns this season as well and posting a 129.79 passing efficiency rating through four games.

Foltz moved into fourth place on the program's career list for passing yards with 3,806 yards in 18 career games after Saturday's game. He is also on pace to set a program record for career completion percentage at 58.8-percent, while also ranking third for total yards (4,006) and passing efficiency (131.2), fourth for touchdowns responsible for (45) and completions (325), fifth for career touchdown passes (34) and 12th for rushing touchdowns (11).
Foltz has performed in the classroom for Stonehill as well, earning NE-10 Academic All-Conference honors as a sophomore and being named to both the NE-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and Athletic Director's Honor Roll all four semesters to date. He collected NE-10 Rookie of the Week honors twice as a freshman and is the only quarterback in program history to pass for over 400 yards in a game when he completed 30-of-46 passes for a record 421 yards and a program record matching six touchdowns at LIU Post in 2015.
Jamiel has made an immediate impact in his freshman season for Stonehill and leads Division II with 10.0 receptions per game, while ranking second in the NE-10 with 105 receiving yards per game and 165 all-purpose yards per game. His three touchdown receptions rank fifth in the Conference, having totaled 40 receptions for 405 yards through his first four collegiate games and averaging 10.5 yards per game. Jamiel has posted 10-plus receptions in each of the last three games, including a program-record 16 catches at Southern Connecticut State University in week two when he totaled 146 yards receiving and his first career touchdown as part of a season-best 210 all-purpose yard night.
Stonehill (1-3, 1-2 NE-10) returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Merrimack College as part of Family Weekend at W.B. Mason Stadium for its Alumni Game at 1 p.m.
