Kidd records 407 total yards, responsible for four Pioneers touchdowns 

EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2016) – LIU Post broke open a six point game at halftime with four touchdowns in the second half to claim a 51-20 victory over Stonehill College in Northeast-10 Conference football action at Timothy J. Coughlin '80 Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium tonight.

Senior quarterback Jeff Kidd (Salem, Oregon) was nearly single-handedly responsible for LIU Post's 484 yards of total offense as he posted 407 total yards and had a hand in four touchdowns in the win. He completed 21-of-26 passes for 309 yards and three touchdowns through the air, while adding another 98 yards on eight carries and a score.

Junior wide receiver Kyle Ward (Elizabeth, New Jersey) finished with 198 all-purpose yards as he caught three passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns to go with 90 yards on four returns. Senior Shane Hubbard (Saint Albans, New York) had seven receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown, while senior running back David White (Bronx, New York) added 19 carries for 64 yards and a score.

Senior Jared Chester (Mount Vernon, New York) paced the LIU Post defense with 11 tackles (four solo) and a pass breakup, while junior Anthony DeNunzio (Seaford, New York) registered nine stops (five solo), including 2.5 sacks for a loss of 16 yards, and two forced fumbles. The Pioneers defense forced three fumbles, collected an interception and had five sacks on the afternoon.

Junior quarterback Matt Foltz (Mount Joy, Pennsylvania/The Hill School) completed 23-of-36 passes for 194 yards and a touchdown, while adding another score on the ground. Freshman Andrew Jamiel (West Yarmouth, Massachusetts/Dennis-Yarmouth) finished with 163 all-purpose yards as he caught ten passes for 85 yards to go with 79 yards on four kickoff returns, while sophomore Mike Cordova (Monroe, New Jersey/Red Bank Catholic) added 161 all-purpose yards with 21 carries for 83 yards on the ground, a six yard touchdown reception and four returns for 72 yards.

Stonehill compiled 356 yards of total offense for the night, with 230 passing and 126 on the ground, while posting 35-minutes time of possession. Freshman Matthew Haite (Kingston, Massachusetts/Silver Lake Regional) contributed a pair of 33-yard field goals on the night.

Senior Justin Kaffenberger (Monroe, New York/Monroe-Woodbury) led the Stonehill defense with a career-high 14 tackles (nine solo), including 1.0 for a loss of two yards, while junior Nick Bona (Peabody, Massachusetts/Bishop Fenwick) added a season-high 11 stops (five solo). Sophomore John Ejiofor (Burlington Township, New Jersey/Burlington Township) chipped in with two solo stops, including a sack for a loss of four yards.

LIU Post outscored Stonehill 35-3 after Stonehill took its third lead of the contest after Haite's first of two 33-yard field goals gave the Skyhawks a 17-16 edge with 5:23 remaining in the first half. The Pioneers regained the lead with 2:25 remaining in the half as Ward collected a 49-yard touchdown strike from Kidd. Ward capped the first possession of the second half with a 34 yard touchdown pass from Kidd for a 30-17 lead.

Haite added his second 33-yard field goal of the night with 5:41 remaining in the third quarter to cut the Stonehill deficit to ten (30-20), but LIU Post would break the game open from there with three straight touchdowns.

Kidd marched LIU Post down the field on its first possession of the game, capped by a three-yard keeper, for an early lead. Foltz gave Stonehill its first of three first half leads with a one-yard scoring plunge of his own, but the Pioneers responded with a 28-yard field goal with 1:25 to go in the opening quarter.

Foltz gave Stonehill the lead again (14-9) with a six yard touchdown toss to Cordova 2:37 into the second quarter, but LIU Post answered three plays later with a one yard touchdown run by sophomore running back Malik Pierre (Holbrook, New York) that was set up by a 70-yard keeper by Kidd. Haite followed with his first field goal to give the Skyhawks their final lead of the night with 5:23 left in the half.

Stonehill (0-3, 0-2 NE-10) returns to action next Saturday when it visits Saint Anselm College for the "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" at noon. The Skyhawks return home the following Saturday, October 1, to host Merrimack College as part of Family Weekend for their Alumni Game at 1 p.m.
