Moody Promoted to Offensive Coordinator for Stonehill Football

Moody will take over offensive play calling in his sixth season with program

EASTON, Mass. (June 17, 2016) – Stonehill College first year head coach Eli Gardner has announced that assistant coach Tyler Moody has been promoted to offensive coordinator heading into the 2016 season.

"I am very excited to announce the promotion of Tyler Moody to offensive coordinator," said Gardner. "Tyler has been a successful coach at Stonehill for the past five years and has consistently demonstrated his passion for the development of our student-athletes and their growth as men. He has a great football mind, is always passionate and full of energy on the field, and is well respected by our student-athletes as well as within the Stonehill community."

Moody, who will continue to serve as position coach with the offensive line, is entering his sixth season as an assistant coach at Stonehill. He served the last three years as run game coordinator with former head coach Robert Talley. Moody is the Skyhawks recruiting coordinator, overseeing the efforts of five fellow assistant coaches across the country and serving as recruiting liaison with the Department of Admissions. He also manages the program's recruitment territory for Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., New Hampshire and Maine.

"Tyler has been a very successful recruiter for our program and has been a huge part of our success during his tenure," continued Gardner. "I am looking forward to seeing him continue grow and achieve in his new role with our football program."

Stonehill's offensive line has continually developed into one of the top units in the Northeast-10 over Moody's five years in charge of the unit, ranking among Conference leaders for pass protection stats, while also paving the way for recent graduate Colin Markus '16, who led the NE-10 in rushing in 2014. The Skyhawks offensive line has collected five All-Northeast-10 Conference honors over his five seasons in charge, including a pair of first team selections in Tom Linden '15 and Chris Bolte '13. Rising senior Anthony Siciliano (Monroe, New York/Don Bosco Prep), a second team All-NE-10 selection last season, earned a spot on the NE-10's All-Rookie Team as a freshman.

Stonehill ranked among NCAA Division II leaders for fewest sacks allowed (16th) at 1.09 per game - good for second in the NE-10 in 2014. Stonehill won a share of its first Northeast-10 regular season championship in 2013 in Moody's first season as run game coordinator as the offense ranked second in the Conference and 22nd nationally in Division II for red zone offense (86%). The offensive line ranked second in the NE-10 and 30th nationally for fewest tackles for loss allowed under Moody's direction in 2012, with the Skyhawks ranking fourth in the Conference for fewest sacks allowed (1.7/gm) and the offense averaged 350.2 yards per game, including 5.2 yards per play, with 101.6 rushing yards per game and 24.2 points per game.

Prior to joining the coaching staff at Stonehill, Moody spent one season at the University of Massachusetts where he served as assistant offensive line coach for the No. 2-ranked total offense in the CAA. Moody spent two seasons at Amherst College, serving as outside linebackers coach.

Moody, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, is a 2008 graduate of Centre College in Danville, Kentucky, and currently resides in Braintree.

Stonehill finished 2015 with its second winning season over the past three years, posting a 7-4 record overall, including 5-4 in NE-10 play to finish fourth in the Conference standings. The Skyhawks will open their 2016 season when it hosts perennial Super Region 1 power Bloomsburg (Pa.) University for a non-conference matchup at W.B. Mason Stadium on Friday, September 2, at 6 p.m.
