There are many great players on the New England college football scene, but three that are turning heads this season are Stonehill linebacker Brian Harrington, Tufts multi-use back Zack Trause and Bentley special teams star Jet Kollie.

Harrington, a Rockland native, has made 63 tackles, including 23 solo heading into tomorow's home game against Southern Connecticut. The 6-foot-1 Harrington has posted double-digit tackles in 14 of his last 17 games, and has moved into 10th place all-time at Stonehill with 239 career tackles.

Stonehill's Harrington was recently included among a large list of semifinalists for the 2014 William V. Campbell Trophy and National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Awards. Harrington, who owns a 3.30 grade-point average as a criminology major, is also a candidate for the AFCA/All-State Good Works Team. He plans to enlist in the military upon graduation and aspires to become an Army Ranger and eventually join the State Police. The do-it-all Harrington serves as a Spanish tutor for high school students at Rockland Library.

"Brian Harrington continues to play at a high level. He's a great kid. He's already decided to go into the military after graduation and he's going to make a great soldier," said Stonehill coach Robert Talley. "He plays sideline to sideline, and when he's going after the quarterback he's going to get the quarterback.

"He's our big play guy. He's been a four-year starter for us. I think he'll be a success at whatever he does in life. He's a great guy to have on the team and to coach."
