Earned All-State honors as a junior and senior as he helped lead team to a pair of Connecticut State Championships. Three-time All-Conference performer. Also lettered in baseball.

Personal: Born February 20, 1993, in Stratford, Conn. Son of Joe and Kathleen Della Vecchia, of Stratford. Has three sisters, Christine (23), Lauren (19) and Kara (17). Undecided on academic major. Father, who now coaches at Saint Joseph High School, played football at Central Connecticut State University. Sister, Christine, played softball at the University of Massachusetts. Lists winning Connecticut State football championships as his greatest sports moment so far. Supports the Dallas Cowboys. Lists Michael Jordan as a favorite athlete.
