Meyer Earns NE-10 Player of the Week Honors

Ventura, Calif., senior collects weekly honor for first time after record-breaking performance in win over Saint Anselm

EASTON, Mass. (September 17, 2013) – Stonehill College senior quarterback Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif./Saint Bonaventure) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Offensive Player of the Week for football by the league office.

Meyer, who earns Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career, led Stonehill to a 52-24 triumph over Saint Anselm College in the Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk on Saturday night as he completed 18-of-33 passes for 332 yards and five touchdowns, while rushing for a sixth, and became the program's all-time leader for career passing yardage. Meyer, who was not intercepted on the night, threw three touchdown passes in the first half of eight, 67 and 44 yards as the Skyhawks staked out a 21-7 halftime lead and then added 15 and four yard tosses in the third quarter before adding a two yard scoring plunge of his own early in the fourth quarter.

Meyer engineered a Stonehill offense that racked up 553 yards of total offense and its highest point total since a 56-7 victory over Saint Anselm on October 6, 2007. The point and total offense totals are both the second-highest in W.B. Mason Stadium history, while Meyer's passing yardage is the third-highest in facility history – second highest by a Stonehill quarterback.

Meyer surpassed Stonehill Athletics Hall of Famer Tony Dello Iacono, '95, atop the program's career passing list with his 67-yard touchdown strike to sophomore Corey White (Bergenfield, Conn./Bergenfield) in the second quarter and has become the program's first 5,000-yard passer with his 5,138 yards at the conclusion of the game. Meyer already held the program record for completions and now has 408 completions and a record 764 pass attempts, while moving up to second all-time with 43 touchdown passes – just three shy of Dello Iacono's record total of 46.

Meyer ranks second among NE-10 leaders for passing yards (477), yards per game (238.5) and touchdown passes (7) through the first two weeks of the season. He has completed 30-of-67 passes through two games this season and posted a 133.09 efficiency rating.

Meyer, who holds the top four passing yardage games in program history, posted the third-highest single-game total with his 332 yards on Saturday night, while his five touchdown passes were just one shy of the program mark, which he holds a share of. The senior captain holds the program's single-game record with 34 completions against Southern Connecticut State University last season. Meyer also set program single-season records for passing yards (2,215) and completions (166) in 2012, while his 20 touchdown passes and 307 pass attempts last season are both the second-highest totals in program history.

Stonehill (1-1, 1-0 NE-10) is back in action on Friday night when it visits Assumption College for a Northeast-10 matchup at 7 p.m. The Skyhawks return home on Saturday, September 28, to host rival Bentley University as part of Family Weekend at the College at 6 p.m.
