Stonehill Announces 2012 Football Signees

EASTON, Mass. (June 5, 2012) - Stonehill College head coach Robert Talley has announced 16 high school seniors who have signed National Letters of Intent to attend the College and compete on the football team starting in the fall of 2012.

Peter Catal
High School: Cornwall Central High School (New Windsor, N.Y.)
Position: LB    Height: 6'0"    Weight: 200
Highlights: Was a team captain at Cornwall Central. Two-time 1st Team All-League and two-time 1st Team Times-Herald Record LB All-Star. Was named the 2011 Section 9 Coaches Association Back of the Year. 

Jared Chandler
High School: Manchester Central High School (Manchester, N.H.)
Position: DB    Height: 5'9"    Weight: 160
Highlights: Was a team captain at Manchester Central. Was the team's starting quarterback his sophomore and junior seasons and was named 3rd Team All-State and 2nd Team All-State in back to back years. Was a 1st Team All-State selection as a senior at wide receiver, while leading the state with over 750 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns. Was named to both the CHaD East-West All-Star game, as well as the New Hampshire Shrine Game. Finished his high school career with over 4,700 total yards and 51 touchdowns. Was nominated for the Manchester Central High School Little Green Award for great academics and leadership. 

Steve Grzywacz
High School: Manchester Central High School (Manchester, N.H.)
Position: K   Height: 5'8"    Weight: 170
Highlights: Totaled 104 career points at Central. Was named a Divison 1 Honorable Mention selection his senior season. Selected to the 2012 CHaD East-West All Star Game. Was the recipient of the Joe Yukica Scholar-Athlete award for academic and athletic achievement. Honor Roll student. Accumulated over 240 hours of community service through the Student Ambassador Program. 

Raige Hollis
High School: Laconia High School (Laconia, N.H.)
Position: DT    Height: 6'1"    Weight: 335
Highlights: Was a team captain at Laconia. Two-time 1st Team All-State. Was selected to play in the 2012 East-West All Star Game, as well as the Shrine Maple Sugar Bowl Game against Vermont. Was the recipient of the 2011 Nadon Most Outstanding Lineman Award. Recorded 61 tackles, including 10 for loss in his senior season. Ranked by the New Hampshire Notebook as one of the Top 20 Players in the State. A member of the 2011-2012 New Hampshire Intercollegiate Athletic Association Leadership Council. 

Ryan Hollis
High School: Hawthorne High School (Hawthorne, N.J.)
Position: S    Height: 5'11"    Weight: 200
Highlights: Three-time Captain at Hawthorne High School. Was the school's second player ever to receive four varsity football letters. Graduated with twelve letters overall (Four Baseball + Four Wrestling). Led the Bears to a 17-4 record over his final two seasons. Four time 1st Team All-League selection. 1st Team All-County as a senior. Finished his career with a school-record 3,750 passing yards, to go along with 2,070 yards rushing and 69 touchdowns. Also amassed 194 tackles and 5 interceptions defensively. 

Serge Jean-Baptiste
High School: Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, Conn.)
Position: OL    Height: 6'2"    Weight: 275
Highlights: Was a team captain at Fairfield Prep. A three year starter on the offensive and defensive line. Named the team's Most Improved Player for 2009 as a sophomore. As a junior, led the team in tackles for loss and quarterback sacks. Named to the Coaches' Class LL All-State team as an offensive lineman and first team All-SCC his senior year. Has been a member of the S.E.E.D. Diversity Club for all four years at Prep and has volunteered at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield, Conn. 

Colin Markus
High School: Masuk High School (Monroe, Conn.)
Position: RB    Height: 6'2"    Weight: 180
Highlights: Was a team captain at Masuk High School, where he won two State Championships and compiled an overall record of 44-4 in his time as a Panther. Two-time Connecticut Post All-Star. Two-time All-State selection. Three-time All-League selection. MVP of the 2011 SWC Championship Game. Holds the school record for rushing yards in a career with over 4,000 as well as total yards from scrimmage with over 5,000. Scored 72 career touchdowns. 

Anthony Masucci
High School: Notre Dame High School (West Haven, Conn.)
Position: S    Height: 5'9"    Weight: 190
Highlights: Was a team captain at Notre Dame High School. Won two state championships; one as a member of the baseball team and another in football. All-League SCC Defense selection. Levi Jackson All-Area Team Defense. 2nd Team All-Area New Haven Register. Honorable Mention All-State Selection. A National Honor Society member, as well as a peer counselor. 

Gordon McLeod
High School: Boston College High School (Dorchester, Mass.)
Position: WR    Height: 6'1"    Weight: 170
Highlights: Was a team captain at BC High. Won a state championship his senior year and caught 45 passes for 755 yards and 11 touchdowns. Selected as a Catholic Conference All-Star. Also named to the Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic Teams and the ESPN All-State team. Chosen to play in the Shriner's All-Star Game. 

Jake Mikos
High School: North Haven High School (North Haven, Conn.)
Position: OL    Height: 6'1"    Weight: 255
Highlights: Selected as a member of the All-State Team in Connecticut, as well as All-SCC and Levi Jackson teams. Was an Honorable Mention Selection by the New Haven Register. An honor roll student every semester of his high school career. Three sport athlete. Volunteers his time with the North Haven Youth Football program. 

Jabari Parham
High School: Franklin High School (Somerset, N.J.)
Position: S    Height: 6'3"    Weight: 185
Highlights: A two year starter at Franklin. Was selected as a 2nd Team All-Division player his senior season for his play on the defensive side of the ball. A member of the Environmental Club and Bridge to Employment. 

Sam Rainey
High School: Trinity High School (Manchester, N.H.)
Position: OL    Height: 6'4"    Weight: 260
Highlights: Two year starter at Trinity. Played at Tight End and Offensive Tackle for the Pioneers. Won the Division IV Championship at Trinity his senior season and finished as runner-up as a junior. 

Deontae Ramey-Doe
High School: Boston College High School (Dorchester, Mass.)
Position: RB    Height: 5'11"    Weight: 180
Highlights: Three year letterman at BC High. Named the State Championship game MVP after rushing for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns in his team's 21-7 win over Needham. 

Bartley Regan
High School: Boston College High School (Dorchester, Mass.)
Position: QB    Height: 6'3"    Weight: 205
Highlights: Quarterbacked BC High to its Super Bowl victory his senior season. Named a Boston Globe All-Star and Catholic Conference All-Star. 

Daniel Tejeda
High School: Servite High School (Anaheim, Calif.)
Position: CB    Height: 6'1"    Weight: 175
Highlights: Was an All-League defensive player for Servite in the Trinity League. 

Corey White
High School: Bergenfield High School (Bergenfield, N.J.)
Position: WR    Height: 6'2"    Weight: 180
Highlights: Three year starter at Bergenfield.  Two-time 1st Team All-League player. Honorable mention All-County as a senior, when he caught 35 passes for 750 yards and 8 touchdowns. Was also a two-time All-League and honorable mention All-County basketball player at Bergenfield.

Stonehill posted back-to-back wins to close out the 2011 season, finishing with a 4-7 record overall, including a 3-5 clip in Northeast-10 play to place sixth in the Conference standings. The Skyhawks open their 2012 season on Friday, August 31, when it hosts Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference member Bloomsburg University at Timothy J. Coughlin Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium at 6 p.m.
