The Game: Stonehill College closes out the 2011 season as it visits Assumption College for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Multi-Sport Stadium this afternoon. The Skyhawks look to close out the season with back-to-back wins for the first time this fall after retaining the "Ol' Bronze Hawk" for the seventh-straight year with a 35-7 triumph over Saint Anselm in their home finale last weekend. The Greyhounds are also looking to close out their season on a winning note after having a three game winning streak snapped with a 41-26 setback at Bentley last Saturday.

Against the Greyhounds: This afternoon marks the 24th meeting all-time between these two programs, which dates back to the two programs club years beyond the first varsity meeting in 1988. Stonehill holds a 17-6 advantage in the series, having won each of the last four meetings and six of seven after an 18-0 triumph in Easton last fall. The Skyhawks are 9-3 all-time here in Worcester, winning their last three visits since 2003, including a 22-14 victory here in 2009. Stonehill is 3-0 here at Multi-Sport Stadium since the renovation in 2005. Head Coach Robert Talley is 4-0 in his career against the Greyhounds.
Saluting Our Seniors: This afternoon marks the final game for Stonehill's 26 seniors. Led by captains Kevin Broderick (Plymouth, Mass.), Matt Iannucci (Oakland, N.J.) and Stephan Neville (Foxborough, Mass.), this senior class also includes: wide receiver Oscar Alvarez (Framingham, Mass.), running back Josh Bendaw (Corona, Calif.), linebacker Jacob Boganski (Meriden, Conn.), offensive lineman Chris Brown (Attleboro, Mass.), defensive lineman Stephen Burckardt (Cambridge, Mass.), wide receiver Danny Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.), offensive lineman JonLars Carlson (Andover, Mass.), wide receiver Justin Cerra (Wilmington, Mass.), wide receiver Philip Coriaty (Brockton, Mass.), running back Brandon Cox (Easton, Mass.), defensive lineman Jason Dellorco (Franklin, Mass.), tight end Patrick Dempsey (Peabody, Mass.), defensive lineman Chris Fragomeni (South Kingstown, R.I.), defensive backs Devin and Dorian Johnson (Newnan, Ga.), defensive lineman Justin Kopcik (East Haven, Conn.), defensive back Marco Meier (Carlsbad, Calif.), quarterback Tim Morrison (Billerica, Mass.), punter Chris Rooney (Quincy, Mass.), quarterback Danny Sagan (Blairstown, N.J.), defensive back Craig Scardapane (New York, N.Y.), running back Jordan Smith (Northfield, N.H.) and tight end Elliott Turek (Southington, Conn.). This group of seniors has helped the Skyhawks to 17 wins over the last four years, including ten in NE-10 play, and earned a pair of NE-10 team sportsmanship awards.

National Recognition: Junior linebacker Raymond Bass (Canton, Mass.) has been named an NCAA Division II Defensive Player of the Week by beyondsportsnetwork.com. Bass played a key role in a Skyhawks defense that held a Saint Anselm offense that averages 356 yards per game, including 241.6 passing yards, to just 167 yards of total offense, with 103 passing and 64 rushing. He finished with ten tackles (five solo), including 2.5 for a loss of 18 yards, and 2.0 sacks on the afternoon. It marks the second time this fall a Stonehill player has earned Player of the Week status from the website as junior cornerback Kevin Anderson (Topsfield, Mass.) collected the honors following week six at Bryant.
They're Honored: Stonehill was well represented on the Northeast-10 Conference's weekly honor roll on Monday with four players selected. Joining junior linebacker Raymond Bass (Canton, Mass.) on the honor roll were junior defensive back Jareed Gaines (Lumberton, N.J.), sophomore quarterback Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif.) and freshman wide receiver Zaire Reiph (Norwalk, Conn.). Gaines posted a team-high 12 tackles (seven solo), including 1.5 for a loss of four yards, 1.0 sacks for a loss of three and two pass breakups for the defense. Meyer completed 20-of-37 passes for 285 yards and three touchdowns. Reiph caught four passes for 80 yards, including a season-long 60 yard touchdown reception in the first quarter.
November Reign: Since head coach Robert Talley took over the program in 2007, Stonehill is 6-2 in the month of November after last weekend's 35-7 victory over Saint Anselm in the "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk." The lone losses are to American International in the final game of 2007 and at Bentley to close out last season.
Three-peat: Sophomore Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif.) became the third quarterback to lead Stonehill to a win this season with last Saturday's win over Saint Anselm. Junior Neal Dotterer (Macedon, N.Y.) steered the Skyhawks to a season-opening win over Curry, while sophomore Jesse Hunt (Winchendon, Mass.) engineered a win over Pace.
DEE-fense: Stonehill's defense turned up the performance of the season in last weekend's 35-7 triumph over Saint Anselm. The Skyhawks held the Hawks offense that averages 356 yards per game, including 241.6 passing yards, to just 167 yards of total offense, with 103 passing and 64 rushing. Stonehill also posted five sacks and forced three interceptions, limiting the Hawks (22.6 ppg) to one touchdown, which was set up by a Skyhawks turnover. The Skyhawks also played a role in Saint Anselm converting just 3-of-20 chances on third down and then going 1-for-5 on fourth down.

He. Could. Go. All. The. Way!: Senior All-American Stephan Neville (Foxborough, Mass.) broke an NCAA Division II record with his ninth career kickoff return for a touchdown at Pace on September 10. The 88-yard return surpassed the previous record of eight set by Dave Ludy from Winona State (1991-94). Neville, who broke the record at the site of his first career return for a score against the Setters on September 13, 2008, is now just one return for a score shy of the NCAA all-divisions record of ten set by Wesley College's (III) Larry Beavers from 2004-08. Neville leads the NE-10 with 27.6 yards per return (24th nationally) through six weeks.
Movin' On Up: Several Stonehill players are marching up Stonehill's career and single-season leader lists in program history: • Senior Stephan Neville (Foxborough, Mass.) ranks fifth with 2,941 career all-purpose yards - 81 yards shy of Dan Cahill (1992-95) for fourth all-time with 3,022 yards and 170 behind Mike McSharry (1995-97) for second all-time with 3,111.
• Sophomore QB Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif.) ranks sixth on the career list with 2,303 passing yards over his two seasons - 108 yards shy of Tom Pincince (1993-96) for fifth all-time.
• Meyer's 1,357 passing yards so far this season good for tenth in program history - six yards shy of Tony Dello Iacono's 1,363 yards in 1992 and 222 behind Dan Field's 1,589 passing yards in 1995 for sixth all-time.
• Junior Jermetrius Troy (Mattapan, Mass.) has 1,132 career rushing yards and is 138 yards shy Mike Nelson (1990-94) for ninth all-time.
• Troy is just one touchdown shy of sixth on the program's single-season list.
• Troy's 734 rushing yards this year rank eighth on the program's single-season list - 57 yards behind Derek Mazza's 2002 total of 791 yards for seventh.
• Junior John Gomes (Hyannis, Mass.) ranks fourth on Stonehill's career receiving list with 1,596 career receiving yards - 178 shy of Kevin Adamson (1989-92) for third all-time.
• Gomes ranks fourth in school history with 49 receptions this season - he needs three catches to move into second and nine to match the program record.
• Gomes ranks sixth in program history with 668 receiving yards this season - 154 yards behind Dan Cahill's 822 yards for fifth all-time.
• Junior Jareed Gaines (Lumberton, N.J.) is just nine tackles from cracking the single-season top ten.
He's Blogging: Stonehill junior defensive back Mickey Miela (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) is maintaining a weekly blog for the Northeast-10 Conference on its website during the 2011 season. The website offers an insight into life as an NE-10 football student-athlete and will appear on www.northeast10.org and www.stonehillskyhawks.com.

Coach Talley will recap the previous week's game every Tuesday and then there will be a preview of the coming week's game each Thursday or Friday.
