The Game: Stonehill College hosts Saint Anselm College in the 13th annual "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" for a Northeast-10 Conference clash on Senior Day at Timothy J. Coughlin (COG-lin) Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium this afternoon. The Skyhawks look to finish above .500 at home and shake off back to back road losses after a snowy 16-6 setback at Southern Connecticut State University last Saturday. The Hawks are coming off a tough 24-20 home loss to Assumption College last weekend following its first win of the season the week prior at Pace University (47-21).

Orange Men: The Stonehill football team is wearing various orange colored items during today's game to promote Blood Cancer Awareness in memory of teammate Henry Thevenin, '14, who passed away from Leukemia in June. Donations will be accepted for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society during the game today.
Saluting Our Seniors: This afternoon marks the final home game for Stonehill's 26 seniors. Led by captains Kevin Broderick (Plymouth, Mass.), Matt Iannucci (Oakland, N.J.) and Stephan Neville (Foxborough, Mass.), this senior class also includes: wide receiver Oscar Alvarez (Framingham, Mass.), running back Josh Bendaw (Corona, Calif.), linebacker Jacob Boganski (Meriden, Conn.), offensive lineman Chris Brown (Attleboro, Mass.), defensive lineman Stephen Burckardt (Cambridge, Mass.), wide receiver Danny Carducci (Rocky Hill, Conn.), offensive lineman JonLars Carlson (Andover, Mass.), wide receiver Justin Cerra (Wilmington, Mass.), wide receiver Philip Coriaty (Brockton, Mass.), running back Brandon Cox (Easton, Mass.), defensive lineman Jason Dellorco (Franklin, Mass.), tight end Patrick Dempsey (Peabody, Mass.), defensive lineman Chris Fragomeni (South Kingstown, R.I.), defensive backs Devin and Dorian Johnson (Newnan, Ga.), defensive lineman Justin Kopcik (East Haven, Conn.), defensive back Marco Meier (Carlsbad, Calif.), quarterback Tim Morrison (Billerica, Mass.), punter Chris Rooney (Quincy, Mass.), quarterback Danny Sagan (Blairstown, N.J.), defensive back Craig Scardapane (New York, N.Y.), running back Jordan Smith (Northfield, N.H.) and tight end Elliot Turek (Southington, Conn.). This group of seniors has helped the Skyhawks to 16 wins over the last four years, including ten in NE-10 play, and earned a pair of NE-10 team sportsmanship awards.

Rookie of the Week: Freshman defensive lineman Brandon Weiss (Freehold, N.J.) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Week after his role for a Skyhawks defense that held Southern Connecticut State University to just one offensive touchdown on Saturday. He posted four tackles (two solo), including a sack for a loss of five yards against the Owls. Weiss is the second Stonehill player to earn Rookie of the Week honors this season, both on the defensive side of the ball, joining linebacker Michael Hogan (Westborough, Mass.) who collected the award on October 3.
Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk: For the sixth-straight year, Stonehill and Saint Anselm will duke it out for the "Ol' Bronze Hawk", given to the winner of the annual football matchup between the Skyhawks and Hawks. Since the bronze statue was unveiled in 2006, Stonehill was held possession of the valued hardware each of the five years so far, outscoring Saint Anselm 187-71 in that time. This afternoon marks the 13th meeting all-time between these two programs. Stonehill holds a 7-5 lead in the all-time series between the two programs that dates back to 1999 after last year's 41-27 triumph in Manchester, N.H. The Skyhawks have won six-straight and seven of the last eight in the series. Stonehill is 3-2 all-time against the Hawks here at W.B. Mason Stadium, including a 31-28 win here in 2009. Head Coach Robert Talley is 4-0 in his career against the Hawks. A little repair work had to be done to the Bronze Hawk in 2009 as it had a wing clipped while being loaded into the team's equipment van after Stonehill's 35-0 win in Manchester, N.H., in 2008.
They're Honored: Senior safety Matt Iannucci (Oakland, N.J.) and junior wide receiver John Gomes (Hyannis, Mass.) were both named to the Northeast-10 Conference's weekly honor roll on Monday. Iannucci posted seven tackles (three solo), two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery for a Skyhawks defense that held Southern Connecticut State to just one touchdown on offense. Gomes led Stonehill with 115 all-purpose yards as he caught three passes for 85 yards to go with a 30 yard kickoff return.
Take Care of the Ball: Sophomore quarterback Jesse Hunt (Winchendon, Mass.), a transfer from UMass, has thrown just one interception over the first 109 pass attempts of his collegiate career since taking over at quarterback due to injury. Hunt went his first 89 attempts before throwing a first quarter interception at Southern Connecticut State last weekend.

Safety Valve: Senior captain Matt Iannucci (Oakland, N.J.) is second on the team with 68 tackles (32 solo), while leading the NE-10 with three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries to go with an interception. Iannucci matched his career high with 11 tackles at Bryant in week six.
Young Line: Stonehill features three freshmen on its defensive line, including NE-10 Rookie of the Week Brandon Weiss (Freehold, N.J.). Classmates Eric Schneider (Camarillo, Calif.) and Lucas Brum (Farmingville, N.Y.) join junior Taylor May (Sparta, N.J.) as projected starters on the line this week. Schneider and Weiss share the team lead with 3.0 sacks this season.
He's Blogging: Stonehill junior defensive back Mickey Miela (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) is maintaining a weekly blog for the Northeast-10 Conference on its website during the 2011 season. The website offers an insight into life as an NE-10 football student-athlete and will appear on www.northeast10.org and www.stonehillskyhawks.com.
Coach's Corner: www.stonehillskyhawks.com, the official website of Stonehill athletics will have weekly interviews with head coach Rob Talley throughout the season. Coach Talley will recap the previous week's game every Tuesday and then there will be a preview of the coming week's game each Thursday or Friday. Each interview is approximately ten minutes long and will give fans an inside look at each game this season. There will also be regular interviews with Skyhawks student-athletes as well.
