EASTON, Mass. (October 12, 2011) – Stonehill College will honor the 20th anniversary of its 1991 Eastern College Football Conference (ECFC) championship at halftime of Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference football matchup with Pace University at Timothy J. Coughlin Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium as part of Family Weekend at the College at 1 p.m.

Stonehill's 1991 football team posted a perfect 5-0 record in the ECFC, clinching the Conference championship with a 14-7 victory over rival Bentley behind 14 tackles and an interception by then junior Mike Benito, '93, to earn ECFC Defensive Player of the Week honors, while classmate Jason MacGilvery, '93, added 12 stops, a fumble recovery and sack.

Under the direction of second year head coach David Swanton, Stonehill outscored its ECFC opposition by a 122-37 margin and finished with a 5-4 overall record, featuring a challenging non-conference schedule that included Ferrum College, from Virginia, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Sacred Heart University. The team featured eight All-ECFC selections, including Conference Player of the Year Glen Lindstrom, '93.

As part of Saturday's festivities, there will be a pregame reception for the team adjacent to W.B. Mason Stadium and team captains Rich Rocco, '92, Glenn Pafford. '92 and Mark Drake, '92 will serve as honorary captains for the opening coin toss. The entire team will then be honored in a halftime ceremony.

Stonehill (1-5, 0-3 NE-10) hosts Pace (1-4, 0-3 NE-10) on Saturday before hitting the road again for a pair of games to close out the month of October. The Skyhawks final home game is slated for Saturday, November 5, when it hosts Saint Anselm College for the "Battle for the Ol' Bronze Hawk" on Easton and Military Appreciation Day at noon.
