The Game: Stonehill College hosts the University of New Haven for a Northeast-10 Conference matchup at Timothy J. Coughlin (COG-lin) Memorial Field at W.B. Mason Stadium as part of Alumni Weekend at the College. The Skyhawks are looking to bounce back from a pair of tough losses by a combined five points to open their NE-10 schedule following last Friday's 42-39 setback here to Merrimack College, while the Chargers will try to build off last Friday's 28-23 victory at Bentley University.
Welcome Back Alumni: Stonehill College welcomes back its Alumni this weekend for a variety of activities surrounding its Alumni Weekend. The Athletics Department has a full slate of home events this weekend, which was kicked off by its 22nd Annual Hall of Fame induction last night at Alumni Hall. In addition to today's home football game, volleyball hosts the University of Bridgeport for a non-conference match in Merkert Gymnasium at 1:30 p.m., while women's soccer is hosting No. 1-ranked College of Saint Rose for an NE-10 contest at Skyhawk Field at 2 p.m. The men's tennis team is also home today with a non-conference match with Salve Regina University at noon.
The Hall Calls: Stonehill College inducted its latest class into its Athletic Hall of Fame during its 22nd annual ceremony at Alumni Hall last night. Former linebacker/fullback/punter Brian Driscoll, '91 headlines this year's inductees. He was a three-time ECAC first team All-Star who finished his career at the College with a school-record 288 tackles, a record 174 of which were unassisted. Joining Driscoll in this year's Hall of Fame class are Celeste Chartier, '72 (basketball), Mario Fraioli, '04 (cross country/track & field), Dan Maher, '68 (benefactor) and Lauren Stone, '06 (lacrosse). Also honored last night was Katie (Lambert) Conover, '03, for her induction into the Northeast-10 Conference Hall of Fame.

The Series: This afternoon marks just the second meeting all-time between these two programs, the first in Easton and W.B. Mason Stadium. New Haven posted a 23-16 victory in the inaugural meeting between the two teams last September in West Haven, Conn., behind a touchdown pass by Ryan Osiecki to Sharieff Hall with 21-seconds left in regulation. This marks New Haven's second season back as a varsity program after a five-year hiatus following the 2003 season. The Chargers were the premier Division II program in New England leading up to break, culminating with an appearance in the 1997 National Championship.
Coaching History: Stonehill head coach Robert Talley and New Haven mentor Peter Rossomando are squaring off today for the second time as opposing head coaches, but the two have a bit of history between them. Both Staten Island natives, the two were teammates at Boston University during Talley's senior season in 1990. In fact, Talley hosted Rossomando on his recruiting visit to BU prior to attending.
Rookie of the Week: Stonehill freshman quarterback
Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif.) was named the
Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Week on Monday. In just his
second career start on Friday night against Merrimack, he completed
17-of-35 passes for 268 yards and a 69-yard touchdown pass 4:12
into the third quarter to help spark the Skyhawks comeback effort.
Meyer also added a one-yard touchdown plunge with 4:45 to play to
draw the team within 36-31. The 69-yard scoring pass to sophomore
Kyle
Norwood (Rehoboth, Del.) is the longest at Stonehill
since a 70-yard scoring pass from former Skyhawk Cruz Parsons to
David Pringle at Bentley in 2008 and the first 60-plus yard
completion in nearly two seasons as well.

Coach Talley will recap the previous week's game every Tuesday and then there will be a preview of the coming week's game each Thursday or Friday. Each interview is approximately ten minutes long and will give fans an inside look at each game this season. There will also be regular interviews with Skyhawks student-athletes as well.

On Deck: The Skyhawks are have a bye weekend next week before returning to the road on Saturday, October 16, to visit Pace University at 1 p.m. Stonehill returns home on Saturday, October 23, to host Southern Connecticut State University on Family Weekend at 1 p.m.
