Ventura, Calif., native selected for first time following second career start

EASTON, Mass. (September 27, 2010) – Stonehill College freshman quarterback Logan Meyer (Ventura, Calif./Saint Bonaventure) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Rookie of the Week for football this afternoon.

Meyer, making his second collegiate start, completed 17-of-35 passes for a season-best 268 yards and a touchdown in Friday night's 42-39 shootout loss to Merrimack College. His 69-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Kyle Norwood (Rehoboth, Del./Cape Henlopen) 4:12 into the third quarter sparked a Skyhawks comeback effort from a 24-10 halftime deficit and marks the longest touchdown pass at Stonehill since Cruz Parsons connected with David Pringle for a 70-yard score at Bentley on September 26, 2008. Meyer also rushed for touchdown from a yard out to pull the Skyhawks within 36-31 with 4:45 to play in the fourth quarter. He completed a two-point conversion pass with 1:31 left in regulation to draw the team within three points.

Through two starts, Meyer has completed 37-of-76 passes for 428 yards and three touchdowns with four interceptions. He completed 20-of-41 passes for 160 yards and scoring passes of four and two yards in his collegiate debut at American International College on September 18 after junior quarterback Tim Morrison (Billerica, Mass./Billerica Memorial) came up ill the day prior.

Stonehill (2-2, 0-2 NE-10) is right back in action on Saturday when it hosts the University of New Haven as part of Alumni Weekend festivities at the College at 1 p.m.
