Equestrian Shows Twice, Earns First High Point Performance

Skyhawks remain second in the region following first high point performance

EASTON, Massachusetts (November 3, 2019) – The Stonehill College equestrian team competed in their second doubleheader of the fall season, where the Skyhawks earned their first high point performance of the year at the Bentley/Wheaton Show on Saturday and fifth place on Sunday at the Bridgewater State Show on Sunday. Stonehill remains in second place in the region following the performances.

Bentley/Wheaton Show

  • Stonehill totaled six first-place ribbons on the day leading them to their first high-point performance of the season at the Century Mills Stables in Bolton, Massachusetts.
  • senior Emma McConville tallied her fourth first-place ribbon of the season as she competed in open fences. Classmates Kaitlin Kotfila and Mariah Hanson finished fourth and third, respectively in the same class.
  • Kotfila also finished second in open flat for the Skyhawks.
  • Both Hanson and Laura Solar finished first in intermediate flat for their first blue ribbons of the season.
  • Sophomore Kiley Subklew was the fourth blue ribbon of the day as she finished first in intermediate fences, and junior Kylie Katz earned third place.
  • Junior Shannon Gorsky won her first-career blue ribbon as she competed in limit fences.
  • In limit flat, freshman Ariel Goharzadeh finished second overall, while classmate Haley Whittaker earned her first-career blue ribbon of the season.
  • Freshman Aylin Torres placed fifth in introduction in her first show of the season.

Bridgewater State University Show

  • Sophomore Sophie Johnson was the Skyhawk's lone blue ribbon performance in novice in her first show of the season.
  • McConville placed third in open fences, while Kotfila finished fourth in open flat.
  • Sophomore Catherine Souza finished fourth in intermediate fences in her second show of the season, while junior Madison Roberts also earned fourth in limit fences in her third show of the season.
  • Goharzadeh followed her second place finish from Saturday with a third-place performance at Legacy Stables in Middleboro, Massachusetts.

Stonehill will return to action this Sunday, November 10 for one show this weekend as they compete in Grafton, Massachusetts at the Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center, hosted by Boston College.
