Equestrian Competes at Bentley and Boston University Shows

Hanson earns high-point rider status at Bentley Show, for second time this season


McConville finished in second place, third place, and fifth place this weekend 

EASTON, Massachusetts (November 5, 2018) – The Stonehill College equestrian team competed in two shows over the weekend as it continued its Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 schedule.

Bentley University Show

The Skyhawks collected four blue ribbons at the Century Mill Stables in Bolton, Massachusetts on Saturday leading them to a second-place finish, one point behind first-place Boston College, as well as their third high point rider of the season in junior Mariah Hanson.

Hanson earned her second-straight high point rider honor as she was the top rider in intermediate fences and novice flat. In her career, Hanson has now combined for 11 blue ribbons and has collected four this season alone.  

Freshman Kiley Subklew was the third blue ribbon of the day for the Skyhawks, as she took home first in intermediate fences, her second of the season. Freshman Daly Ravino was given her first blue ribbon of the season as she rode in the novice fences equitation.

Stonehill also tallied five second-place honors, as juniors Emma McConville and Kaitlin Kotfila, sophomore Shannon Gorsky, senior Bridget McGrail, and freshman Hannah Lennon were each given red ribbons.

McConville was second in open flat, as she also competed in open fences for a fifth-place finish, while Kotfila competed in both divisions as well and earned second in open flat and sixth in open fences.

Gorsky earned her first-career second-place ribbon with her performance in novice fences. McGrail and Lennon both appeared in their first IHSA shows and both collected second place in walk-trot-canter.

Junior Laura Solar and freshman Olivia Cerretani each received fifth-place ribbons in intermediate flat and walk-trot, respectively.

Boston University Show

The Skyhawks took home sixth at the Boston University Show at Holly Hill Farm in Cohasset, Massachusetts on Sunday and was led by one first-place finish and two second-place ribbons.

Hanson once again led the show with a blue ribbon in intermediate fences, while sophomore Madison Roberts and Lennon took home second place in novice flat and walk-trot-canter, respectively.

McConville competed in open flat again and she placed third, while Kotfila earned fourth place in the same division. McConville also showed in open fences and placed fifth, for one of three fifth-place ribbons for the Skyhawks.

Subklew also collected a fifth-place ribbon in intermediate fences, while Ravino was fifth in novice fences. Freshman Cerretani competed in her fourth show of her collegiate career earning sixth, while McGrail also finished sixth in walk-trot-canter. 

The Skyhawks will return to action for one last show in the fall season hosted by Boston College on Sunday, November 11 at the Hillside Meadows Equestrian Center in Grafton, Massachusetts.
