Hanson earns high-point rider status in Sunday's show


Hanson was named high point rider after two first-place ribbons at the home show

STOUGHTON, Massachusetts (October 28, 2018) – The Stonehill College equestrian team earned its second reserve high point team honors this season on Sunday at their home show at the Winters End Farm in Stoughton, Massachusetts.

The Skyhawks finished in second place, as Boston University was named the high point team at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 Stonehill College home show.

Junior Mariah Hanson earned high point rider as she led Stonehill to two of their four first-place ribbons. Hanson finished first in open equitation fences and intermediate equitation flat. These ribbons are her second and third first-place honors of the season and ninth in her career.

Junior Emma McConville  also earned a blue ribbon on Sunday, as she placed first in open fences, her second blue ribbon of the season and eighth career. Freshman Kiley Subklew competed in her second IHSA show, taking home her first blue ribbon of her career in intermediate fences.

Five Skyhawks also finished with a red ribbon, including junior Kaitlin Kotfila, freshman Daly Ravino, sophomore Kylie Katz, sophomore Molly McCutcheon, and freshman Olivia Cerretani.

Kotfila finished second in open flat and third in open fences, as this was her sixth blue ribbon of her career and first of the season. Ravino rode in her first IHSA show and earned second place in novice equitation fences.

Katz collected her second-career blue ribbon, as she finished second in intermediate flat at the home show, while McCutcheon placed second in the walk-trot-canter class for her second blue ribbon of the season. Cerretani collected second place in the walk-trot class for her best finish of the season.

Junior Laura Solar took home third place in intermediate flat class, while sophomore Madison Roberts rounded out the Skyhawks ribbons with a sixth-place finish in novice flat.

The Skyhawks return to action this weekend as they compete in two shows, including one hosted by Bentley University at Century Mills Stables on Saturday, November 3 and one hosted by Boston University at Holly Hill Farm on Sunday, November 4.
