Equestrian Concludes Fall Season With Top-Five Finish


Westerlind takes home third red ribbon of the year

HOLLISTON, Mass. (November 20, 2017) – Stonehill College Equestrian took home a top-five mark at the Tufts University/Wheaton Show on Sunday at August Farm in Holliston, Massachusetts for its last show of the season.

With yesterday's performance, Stonehill is still second in the region.

Madison Roberts (East Hampton, Connecticut/East Hampton) led all Skyhawk riders with her fourth blue ribbon in walk, trot, canter.

Four riders earned red ribbons this weekend, including two in novice flat, one in novice fences, and one in intermediate flat. Laura Solar (Melville, New York/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) and Abigail Westerlind (Auburn, Masaschusetts/Auburn) placed second in novice flat, while Rachel Scibek (Colchester, Vermont/Colchester) and Kylie Katz (Northford, Connecticut/Lyman Hall) finished second in novice fences and intermediate flat, respectively.

Kaitlin Kotfila (Hadley, Massachusetts/Hopkins Academy) earned third place in both intermediate flat and intermediate fences, as she competed in her sixth show of the year.

Solar also took home sixth in novice fences, while Jenna Payne (Wantage, New Jersey/Pope John XXIII) also finished sixth in novice fences. Emma McConville (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/Wheeler School) rode to a sixth-place finish in open fences, for her sixth show of the season. Mariah Hanson (South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington) took home seventh in the show in the intermediate fences category.

Stonehill takes a few months off before getting back into the swing of things on Sunday, March 25 for a show at Maplewood Farm in Berlin, Massachusetts, hosted by Worcester State University.
