Equestrian Opens Season with Sixth Place Result

Stonehill took home three blue ribbons

HOLLISTON, Mass. (October  15, 2017) – The Stonehill College equestrian team opened its 2017-18 season with a show at August Farm, hosted by Brandeis and Northeastern University in Holliston, Massachusetts capturing sixth place on Saturday.

Three riders took home blue ribbons, including Emma McConville (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/Wheeler School), Mariah Hanson (South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington), and Olivia Lanning (Floral Park, New York/Floral Park Memorial).

McConville placed first in the open flat division, while Hanson took first in the novice fences. Lanning earned first in walk-trot-canter at her first-collegiate IHSA show.

Sophomore Laura Solar (Melville, New York/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) had strong showings in novice flat and fences, taking home second place in both events. Senior Abigail Westerlind (Auburn, Massachusetts/Auburn), who competed in another division, also placed second in novice flat.

Senior Baylee Kimbar (Worcester, Massachusetts/West Boylston) competed in the intermediate flat and fences classes, placing third and sixth, respectively.

Sophomore Kaitlin Kotfila (Hadley, Massachusetts/Hopkins Academy) followed Kimbar in intermediate flat with a fourth-place finish, as she also took sixth in intermediate fences.

Freshman Molly McCutcheon (Florence, Massachusetts/Northampton) competed in her first-collegiate show collecting a fourth-place ribbon in walk-trot-canter.

The equestrian team take some time off before hosting its first show, with Boston University, of the season on Saturday, November 4 at Winters End Farm in Stoughton, Massachusetts.
