Fultz Wraps Up Stonehill Equestrian Season at Zone 1 Championships

Littleton, Massachusetts, senior places tenth for novice fences

EASTON, Mass. (April 11, 2017) – Stonehill College senior Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) closed out the 2016-17 equestrian season with a tenth place finish at the 2017 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1 Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke College, at the MHC Equestrian Center in South Hadley, Massachusetts, on Saturday.

Fultz, who had qualified for the Zone 1 Championships with her first place show at the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4, Championships received a tenth place ribbon on Saturday for novice equitation over fences, with a tough draw on the horse she rode for the event. It marked the first time she reached the Zone 1 Championships after qualifying twice for the regionals.

Fultz capped her career with four blue ribbon performances over her senior season, including the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championships the week prior. She also posted first place shows at Stonehill's home show on October 16, Mount Ida College (Nov. 12) and Bridgewater State University (March 12).

Recent Stonehill graduate Danielle Franchi '15 also competed at the IHSA Zone 1 Championships on Saturday and placed fourth for alumni equitation on the flat after earning a blue ribbon at the regionals.

Stonehill finishes its 2016-17 equestrian season having placed fourth in IHSA Zone 1, Region 4. Five riders qualified for the Region 4 Championships, with Fultz reaching the Zone 1 Championships.
