Littleton, Massachusetts, senior aims to qualify for IHSA Nationals in May

EASTON, Mass. (April 7, 2017) – Stonehill College senior Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) will represent the equestrian program at Saturday's Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1 Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke College, at the MHC Equestrian Center in South Hadley, Massachusetts.

Fultz qualified for the Zone 1 Championships with her first place show in novice equitation over fences at last weekend's IHSA Zone 1, Region 4, Championships at Holly Hill Show Stables in Hanover, Massachusetts. She will ride against the top two finishers from each of Zone 1's five regions, with the top two place winners advancing to the IHSA National Championships in Lexington, Kentucky, May 4-7, at Kentucky Horse Park.

Fultz has qualified for the Zone 1 Championships for the first time in her career after reaching the Region Championships for the second time. She placed fifth at the 2015 championships for walk-trot-canter equitation. Fultz is the first Stonehill rider to reach Zones since classmate Ashley Eng (New Milford, Connecticut/Nonnewaug) and Justine Mitchell '15 ribboned in 2015.

Fultz's blue ribbon at the Region Championships last weekend is her fourth of the season, having also posted first place shows at Stonehill's home show on October 16, Mount Ida College (Nov. 12) and Bridgewater State University (March 12). She was also second at Brandeis, third at Tufts/Wheaton and fourth at Boston College to highlight her top performances from the season.

In addition to Fultz, recent Stonehill graduate Danielle Franchi '15 will compete at Saturday's Zone 1 Championships in alumni equitation on the flat after placing first in the alumni event last weekend.
