Equestrian Reserve High Point Team at Tufts/Wheaton Show

Caulkins earns reserve high point rider, while Buckley qualifies for regionals

HOLLISTON, Mass. (November 7, 2016) – The Stonehill College equestrian team received reserve high point team honors at the Tufts University/Wheaton College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4, show, hosted by Ridgetop Farm on Sunday.

Stonehill earned 34 points for its second place finish just one point behind Boston University (35 points) for high point team. Senior Micaela Caulkins (Old Lyme, Connecticut/Old Lyme) paced the Skyhawks with a first place show for intermediate equitation on the flat, to go with a second place ribbon for open equitation over fences, to earn reserve high point rider honors at the show. Senior co-captain Kristin Buckley (Leominster, Massachusetts/Saint Bernard's) became Stonehill's second qualifier for the Zone 1, Region 4 Championships next spring with her blue ribbon in walk trot canter.

Stonehill earned five blue ribbons in all, with junior Baylee Kimbar (Worcester, Massachusetts/West Boylston) placing first for intermediate fences, while freshman Emma McConville (North Attleboro, Massachusetts/The Wheeler School) was first for novice flat. Freshman Mariah Hanson (South Burlington, Vermont/South Burlington) had a successful collegiate debut for the Skyhawks with her blue ribbon for novice fences.

Senior Kayla McNulty (Tyngsboro, Massachusetts/Academy of Notre Dame) placed second for walk-trot-canter, while classmate Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) was third for novice fences. Fourth place shows went to senior co-captain Serafine Torregiano (Saratoga Springs, New York/Saratoga Springs) for open fences, while placing sixth for open flat, freshman Kaitlin Kotfila (Hadley, Massachusetts/Hopkins Academy) for intermediate flat and senior Allison Calder (Mansfield, Massachusetts/Mansfield) in walk-trot.

Stonehill is scheduled to close out its fall season next Saturday, November 12, at Mount Ida College at 9 a.m.
