Mitchell & Eng Earn Ribbons at Zone Championships

Skyhawks wrap up 2014-15 season at IHSA Zone 1 Championships 

HOLYOKE, Mass. (April 7, 2015) – Both of the Stonehill College equestrian qualifiers earned ribbons while competing at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1 Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke College, at the Mount Holyoke Equestrian Center on Saturday.

Sophomore Ashley Eng (New Milford, Connecticut/Nonnewaug) led Stonehill with a sixth place finish in walk-trot equitation while competing in her first Zone Championship. Senior Justine Mitchell (Sunderland, Massachusetts/Frontier Regional) also earned a ribbon in her final collegiate show by placing eighth for walk-trot-canter equitation. The pair had qualified for the Zone Championships with second place ribbons for each event at the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championships a week earlier. The top two ribbon winners in each event at the Zone Championships on Saturday qualify for the IHSA National Championships.

Stonehill concludes its 2014-15 season having posted two event wins and finishing second in the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 team standings. Five riders qualified individually for the Region 4 Championships, with two advancing to the Zone 1 Championships.
