Stonehill Qualifies Two for IHSA Zone 1 Championships

Mitchell and Eng both place second at IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 Championships 

PEMBROKE, Mass. (March 30, 2015) – Two members of the Stonehill College equestrian team turned in second place finishes to highlight the program's participation at the 2015 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1, Region 4 Championships, hosted by Herringbrook Farm, on Saturday.

Senior Justine Mitchell (Sunderland, Massachusetts/Frontier Regional) and sophomore Ashley Eng (New Milford, Connecticut/Nonnewaug) both earned second place ribbons on Saturday and will now represent Stonehill at the IHSA Zone 1 Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke College, on Saturday at 9 a.m. Mitchell placed second for walk-trot-canter equitation, while Eng finished second for walk-trot equitation this past weekend at the Regional Championships.

Senior Danielle Franchi (Islip, New York/Islip) also qualified for regionals this past weekend and placed fourth for open equitation on the flat, while sophomore Nina Fultz (Littleton, Massachusetts/Littleton) also earned a ribbon for her fifth place showing in walk-trot-canter. Senior Kayleigh McDonnell (Rutland, Vermont/Rutland) rounded out Stonehill's regional qualifiers and just missed out on the ribbons for intermediate equitation over fences.
