West Bridgewater senior to represent Skyhawks at Zone 1 Championships

PEMBROKE, Mass. (April 4, 2013) – Stonehill College senior Samantha Lindquist (West Bridgewater, Mass./West Bridgewater) qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 1 Championships with her performance at the Zone 1, Region 4 Championships held this past weekend.

Lindquist led seven regional qualifiers from Stonehill at the championships and will join senior Emily Dolan (La Crosse, Wis./Aquinas) at this weekend's IHSA Zone 1 Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke University, on Saturday. Lindquist, competing at the regional championships for the second-straight year, placed second for novice equitation on the flat this past weekend.

Dolan placed third individually for open equitation over fences and fifth in open flat, but as Region 4's Cacchione Cup representative will compete at this weekend's Zone 1 Championships in a tune up for the IHSA National Championships in Harrisburg, Pa., in May.

Junior Caitlin Wright (Old Lyme, Conn./Mercy) and sophomore Kayleigh McDonnell (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) led Stonehill's remaining regional qualifiers with fourth place showings for walk-trot and walk-trot-canter, respectively. Senior Kerry McCarthy (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) placed eighth in walk-trot-canter, while classmate Martina Tramontozzi (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) was sixth for novice flat and sophomore Danielle Franchi (Islip, N.Y./Islip) placed seventh for open fences.
