Skyhawks close out fall season in second place in Zone 1, Region 4 standings
Stonehill totaled 40 points to finish one point behind to event winner Tufts University (41). The Skyhawks also trail the Jumbos by one point in the regional standings as they head into the spring season next semester.
Junior Cassandra Lorusso (Wrentham, Mass./Dana Hall School) competed in both open fences and flat classes at the event. She earned a blue ribbon for open equitation on the flat and placed second on open equitation over the fences.
Seniors Christine Dwyer (Park City, Utah/Kentucky Country Day) and Nina Crossley (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) as well as junior Emily Dolan (Lacrosse, Wis./Aquinas) also earned blue ribbons for their finishes. Dwyer placed first in her intermediate fences class, while Dolan was first in her intermediate flat class and Crossley placed first for novice flat.
Freshman Danielle Franchi (Islip, N.Y./Islip) placed second for open flat, while senior Rebecca Rossi (Cranston, R.I./Bay View Academy) was second for intermediate flat, freshman Kayleigh McDonnell (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) was second in walk-trot-canter and senior Alexandra Keller (South Burlington, Vt./Stoneleigh-Burnham School) was second in novice fences.
Posting third place finishes for their classes were sophomore Miranda Williams (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkinton) for intermediate fences and classmate Caitlin Wright (Old Lyme, Conn./Mercy) in walk-trot-canter.
Stonehill will return to action in February for the spring portion of their schedule, which will be released in the coming weeks.
