Lorusso earns high point rider honors after first and second place finishes

STOUGHTON, Mass. (November 21, 2010) – The Stonehill College equestrian team posted its second event win of the fall season by taking first place at its own home show at Dry Water Farm today. The Skyhawks also posted a team win at the Boston University Show in October.

Sophomore Cassandra Lorusso (Wrentham, Mass./Dana Hall School) led Stonehill to the team win and was high point rider for the event after placing first in open fences to go with a second place finish in her flat class.

Stonehill also got first place finishes from junior Alexa Riccio (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) for intermediate fences, senior captain Kate Perez (Southampton, Mass./Hampshire Regional) in novice flat, sophomore Samantha Lindquist (West Bridgewater, Mass./West Bridgewater) for novice fences and senior Alisha Weilgoszinski (Amherst, N.H./Brewster Academy) for beginner walk-trot-canter as well as junior Lexi Keller (South Burlington, Vt./Stoneleigh-Burnham School).

Stonehill is off until Sunday, December 5, when it takes part in the Tournament of Champions, hosted by Saint Andrew's College in North Carolina.
