Skyhawk riders place first of 12 teams at BU on Sunday
Three Stonehill riders qualify for regionals in the spring

EASTON, Mass. (November 1, 2009) - The Stonehill College equestrian team enjoyed a successful weekend, capped by a first place finish at the Boston University home show at Holly Hill Farm in Hanover, Mass., on Sunday. The Skyhawks, who also competed at the Tufts University home show at August Farm in Holliston, Mass., on Saturday, saw three riders qualify for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regionals in the spring over the two events.

Stonehill earned 40 points on Sunday to place first out of 12 teams competing at the Boston University home show. BU was second with 37 points, while Wheaton College took third with 36.

Senior Kelsey Hill (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine/Foxcroft Academy) was Stonehill's high point rider on Sunday. She placed first in both novice fences and intermediate flat for the Skyhawks. Junior Kate Perez (Southampton, Mass./Hampshire Regional) took first place in advanced walk-trot-canter, qualifying for regionals in the process.

Freshman Cassandra Lorusso (Wrentham, Mass./Dana Hall School) placed first in open fences.
Senior Quinn Traendly (Hope Valley, R.I./Chariho Regional) placed third in open flat.
Senior Rachel Foster (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) placed second in intermediate fences.
Sophomore Rebecca Rossi (Cranston, R.I./Bay View Academy) placed second in novice fences.
Sophomore Christine Dwyer (Louisville, Ky./Kentucky Country Day) placed first in novice flat.
Sophomore Nina Crossley (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) placed first in walk-trot-canter.

Stonehill earned its first two regional qualifiers at the Tufts home show on Saturday. Senior Rachel Foster (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) was Stonehill's reserve high point rider for the event. She placed first for both intermediate fences and novice flat, qualifying for regionals in the latter event. Senior Stephanie Perry (Wareham, Mass./Sacred Heart) was also a regional qualifier after her third-place finish at intermediate flat.

Sophomore Jacquelyn Maggiore (Winchester, Mass./Dana Hall School) placed third in novice flat.
Freshman Kerry McCarthy (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) placed second in beginner walk-trot-canter.
Freshman Mary-Kate Carr (Queensbury, N.Y./Queensbury) placed third in advanced walk-trot-canter. 

Stonehill returns to action next Sunday for the Endicott College Home Show at Springtide Farm in Boxford, Mass., at 9 a.m.
