Stonehill Finishes 9th at Holiday Tournament of Champions

Traendly leads Skyhawk riders in final event of fall season  

LONG VALLEY, N.J. (December 7, 2009) - The Stonehill College equestrian team concluded its fall season with a strong showing at the Holiday Tournament of Champions, held at the Centenary College Equestrian Center, this weekend.

Stonehill placed ninth out of 26 teams competing at the event, which was won by host Centenary - who also had a "B" squad place second. Mount Holyoke College placed third followed by Lynchburg College in fourth.

Senior Quinn Traendly (Hope Valley, R.I./Chariho Regional) placed second for open fences at the event, but also rode in the select medal class against 36 select riders from across the country consisting of two phases. The first was a flat class after which she was called back to compete over fences to win that event.

Other Stonehill highlights from the event included:

Senior Rachel Foster (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) placed fifth in intermediate fences.

Sophomore Rebecca Rossi (Cranston, R.I./Bay View Academy) placed fifth in novice fences.

Junior Alisha Wielgozinski (Amherst, N.H./Brewster Academy) placed second in walk-trot-canter.
