Stonehill Finishes Fourth at IHSA Nationals

Skyhawks round out first appearance at nationals since 2003 with solid finish

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 8, 2010) – The Stonehill College equestrian team finished in a three-way tie for fourth place in the team Collegiate Cup Hunter Seat standings at the 2010 Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships at Kentucky Horse Park as competition concluded this afternoon.

Stonehill finished with 12 points following three days of competition to finish fourth along with Stanford University and Hollins University. Skidmore College won the team title with 28 points, followed by Centenary College and University of Findlay in second place with 20 points, with the University of Kentucky in third with 18 points.

Senior Quinn Traendly (Hope Valley, R.I./Chariho Regional) was Stonehill's lone rider on day three and placed seventh out of 19 competitors for Open Equitation Over Fences.

Earning points for Stonehill over the last three days were sophomore Nina Crossley (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands) with a first place finish in Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation (7pts), freshman Martina Tramontozzi (Melrose, Mass./Melrose) finished third for Novice Equitation Over Fences (4pts) and senior Rachel Foster (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) placed sixth in Intermediate Equitation Over Fences (1pt).

Senior Kelsey Hill (Dover-Foxcroft, Maine/Foxcroft Academy) led Stonehill riders who competed individually, earning Reserve Champion honors with a second place finish out of 20 riders for Intermediate Equitation on the Flat.
