Stonehill Remains Fourth after Day 2 at IHSA Nationals

Foster earns Skyhawks a point with sixth-place finish for intermediate fences
Crossley places sixth for individual walk-trot

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 7, 2010) – The Stonehill College equestrian team picked up another point and remain tied for fourth after day two of the 2010 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championships at Kentucky Horse Park today. The Skyhawks are tied with Hollins University, from Virginia, with 12 points. Skidmore College still leads the team Hunter Seat standings with 25 points, with Centenary College and University of Findlay tied for second with 20 points each.

Senior Rachel Foster (Townsend, Mass./North Middlesex Regional) earned Stonehill's lone point on the day with her sixth-place finish out of 19 riders for team Intermediate Equitation over Fences. Junior Alisha Wielgoszinski (Amherst, N.H./Brewster Academy) placed tenth in the team competition for Walk-Trot Equitation out of 19 competitors.

Sophomore Nina Crossley (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands), one day after earning the Skyhawks maximum points with a first place finish in the team Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation competition, earned a sixth-place individual placement for Walk-Trot Equitation.

Action wraps up for Stonehill at the IHSA Nationals tomorrow with its last rider scheduled to compete in the team Open Equitation on the Flat.
