Quinn Traendly qualified for Zones for Open Fences and Open Flat |
Equestrian Claims Regional Title at Home Show
Stoughton, Mass. - The Stonehill College Equestrian team finished third at their home show held this weekend at the Dry Water Farm. A number of riders finished well for the College, who claimed the 2008 Zone 1, Region 4 title and the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHRA) Miller's Cup as the High Point team.
Sophomore Devon Poeta (Old Lyme, Conn./Lyme-Old
Lyme) provided the first high spot for the Skyhawks - finishing
second in Open Fences and first in Open Flat. Classmate
Stephanie Perry (West Wareham, Mass./Sacred Heart)
finished second as well in the Intermediate Fences.
Senior Stephanie Fagan (Marshfield,
Mass./Marshfield) earned second in intermediate flat, while
sophomore Kelsey Hill (Dover-Foxcroft,
Maine/Foxcroft Academy) took second place honors in Noice
Fences.
Jenna Boyd (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet) earned
first place honors in Walk-Trot-Canter. Callie
Ryan (Newtown, Conn./Newtown), a freshman, finished second
in Walk-Trot.
A number of riders qualified for Zones. Quinn Traendly (Hope Valley, R.I./Chariho Regional) earned a spot for Open Fences and Open Flat, after winning both classes on Sunday. Boyd's second place finish in Walk-Trot qualified her for Zones also.
The women, who owned the highest point total throughout the season, were named Regional championships as a result of their third place finish. The Stonehill Equestrian team is headed to Zone competition at Mt. Holyoke next weekend. The event is scheduled for April 5th.
