Skyhawks Off And Running In 2007-08

Easton, Mass. - Under the watchful eye of first year mentor Tarah Watson, the 2007-08 edition of Stonehill Equestrian has gotten of to a rousing start.

In the first show of the season, hosted by Tufts University, the Skyhawks finished second with a total of 36 points.

Freshman Kayla Schneider (Rockville, Conn.) got her collegiate career off to an impressive start, winning her intermediate fence class and placing third in the intermediate flat class.  

Junior co-captain Rebecca Clifford (Rehoboth, Mass.), also claimed her intermediate fence class, and placed second in the novice flat class, and in the process qualified for the regional competition in April.

Another freshman Hilary Hamlyn (Brewster, Mass.), experienced success in her initial collegiate show, placing second in the Walk Trot Canter class, while sophomore Rachel Foster (Townsend, Mass.) won her novice fences class, senior Renee Rogers (Hopkinton, Mass.), won her novice flat class, and junior Chantel LeClair (Walpole, Mass.) placed second in her novice flat class.

In their second show of the season, Stonehill fared well again, finishing a strong second with 37 points at the UMass-Dartmouth show.

Sophomore Quinn Traendly (Hope Valley, R.I.) won open fences, while Schneider again had an excellent outing, winning intermediate fences and flat. She also collected Reserve High point rider for the day.

Hamlyn won Walk Trot Canter class after finishing second at the previous show, while junior Naomi Crielly (Mountain Top, Pa.) was second in the walk-trot.

The Skyhawks return to action on Sunday, November 4th when they visit Bridgewater State.
