DANVERS, Mass.-- Stonehill captured its second IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 championship in Head Coach Sara DelVecchio's three-year tenure on Saturday afternoon, as the Skyhawks captured high point champion honors among 13 teams competing at the Bridgewater State Intercollegiate Horse Show. Stonehill posted a team score of 35 points to edge reserve champion Endicott by one point, and in the process the Skyhawks gained the regional crown by edging both UMass Dartmouth and Wheaton in the final standings.

Sophomore Jamie Marsalise (Laurel Hollow, N.Y.) finished first in the open fences and second in the open flat for Stonehill, which also received first place performances from sophomores Becca Clifford (Rehoboth, Mass.) and Naomi Crilley (Mountain Top, Pa.) in the novice flat and walk trot, respectively. Freshmen Megan Martinez (New York, N.Y.) and Kelli-Ann Monroe (Swanzey, N.H.) also recorded second place finishes in the novice fences and novice flat for the Skyhawks on the afternoon.

Stonehill will compete in the IHSA Regional Championships on Sunday morning in Boxford, Mass. beginning at 9:00 a.m. and will then head to South Hadley, Mass. next Saturday morning to compete at the IHSA Zone Championships hosted by Mount Holyoke for a berth in the IHSA National Championships that will be held in early May in Springfield, Mass.
