Grossmann Earns High Point Rider Honors As Equestrian Begins Spring Schedule By Taking High Point Champion Accolades At Tufts Horse Show

HOPKINTON, Mass.-- The Stonehill equestrian team began its spring schedule on Saturday afternoon by taking high point champion honors at the Tufts Horse Show, as the Chieftains’ team score of 43 points bested the host Jumbos total by four points on the day.

Freshman Kristina Grossmann (Dix Hills, N.Y.) earned high point rider of the day accolades for Stonehill out of the novice category, as she bested two Tufts open competitors for the title while posting first place finishes in both the novice fences and novice flat.

Junior Tammy Wood (Staten Island, N.Y.) and sophomore Lynne Adams (Averill Park, N.Y.) added first place finishes in the walk trot and walk trot canter for the Chieftains, while senior Kelsey Amedeo (Springfield, Mass.) took top honors in the open flat and extended her lead in the Cacchione Cup standings as the high point rider in the region. Senior Samantha Vopat (Plympton, Mass.) was second in the open fences for Stonehill, which also received second place performances from sophomore Anna Huggins (Uxbridge, Mass.) and freshman Stephanie Fagan (Marshfield, Mass.) in the intermediate fences and intermediate flat, respectively.

Stonehill, which remains at the top of the IHSA Zone 1, Region 4 standings, returns to action next Sunday in competing at the Wellesley Horse Show at 9:00 a.m.
