Baseball Is Victorious Against Adelphi, 9-2

Marshall struck out six in 7.0 innings of work, allowing one run

BOCA RATON, Florida (March 12, 2020) – The Stonehill College baseball team earned a non-conference win over Northeast-10 Conference foe Adelphi University with a score of 9-2 on Thursday on the campus of Lynn University.

Key Moments:

  • Stonehill broke the game open with two runs in the top of the fifth with one out and runners on second and third. Wilde sent the ball out to deep left center driving in Maher and Orzechowski, as Adelphi halted the rally with back-to-back outs.
  • The Skyhawks kept the lead with seven runs through the last three innings, including a five-run push in the top of the seventh.  Wilde kicked it off with a RBI single to left center, followed by Maher scoring on a wild pitch. Following the second out of the inning, Swanholm doubled for two RBI and Lucier drove in the fifth run with a RBI single to right field for a 7-0 advantage.
  • The Panthers' Dominic Paola grounded into a double play in the bottom of the frame to score Tim Feliz from third to break the Skyhawks' shutout, 7-1.
  • In the eighth, Stonehill picked up another run from Maher's RBI, while Adelphi's Brandon Warick's RBI single in the later half of the inning kept the deficit to six, 8-2. The Skyhawks added one more run in the top of the ninth to pick up their first non-conference win over a NE10 foe, 9-2.
