EASTON, Massachusetts (May 3, 2019) – The Stonehill College baseball team's season came to an end as their final game was called due to rain, sweeping the series against Saint Anselm College with a 4-2 victory in six innings on Lou Gorman Field in Northeast-10 Conference play.

Stonehill's senior pitcher Michael Young retired six-straight batters to hold the Hawks to no runs or hits through three innings. The Skyhawks capitalized on three hits in the bottom of the second inning as Aidan Wilde led off with a walk. Rob Duarte followed with a single to third base to put runners on first and second for Patrick Downey's RBI single to center field for a 1-0 lead.

With one out, a wild pitch put Downey and Duarte in scoring position, as Noah Lucier flew out to center field as Duarte tagged up on the play for a 2-0 advantage. Stonehill looked to get another run across with one of two singles from Matt Donlan but Downey was out at home advancing on the throw.

Saint Anselm cut the deficit to one, 2-1 with a RBI single from Max Silverman in the top of the fourth that scored Tyler McKeon from third. Stonehill was able to put two more runs across in the bottom of the frame as Matt Farragher connected for a RBI single with two outs and William Kelleher doubled down the left field line for another run, extending their lead to three, 4-1.

Young walked his only batter of the game in the top of the fifth with one out and John Kelley sent a ball to center field for a double as Preston Colp advanced to third and scored on a fielding error for the Hawks to come within two, 4-2. The side was retired as Kelley was picked off at second from a throw by Donlan behind the plate.

Saint Anselm threatened in the top of the sixth as Oscar Larranga reached on a walk and Silverman was hit by a pitch, but Jeremiah Vargas struck out Drew Boli to end the inning for his third save of the season and Young's fifth win of the season.

Stonehill concludes this season with their first 20-plus win season in three years finishing with a 22-25 overall mark and a 13-14 Conference record.
