EASTON, Massachusetts (March 11, 2019) – The Stonehill College baseball team, who is ranked No. 10 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II East Region Poll, saw senior Harrison Sabo earn Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Monday.

Sabo assisted the Skyhawks to a 3-5 week in Florida, improving the Skyhawks to .500 overall with an 8-8 overall record. Stonehill's three wins included a 17-4 victory over Bloomfield College in seven innings due to weather, a 9-7 win over Bloomfield College, and an 11-10 come-from-behind win over NE10 foe American International College.

In the eight games played, the senior averaged .400 at the plate swinging 14-for-35 loading every category. He scored seven runs last week connecting for two doubles, bringing his career total to 21, one triple for his fifth career triple, and two homeruns totaling six in his career. The senior led the team in RBI this week combining for 16 with three walks and one stolen base.

The first baseman also made no errors on the field, tallying 66 putouts and turning three double plays. The Wilton, Connecticut native is currently on a 10-game hit streak, the longest on the team, and has eight multiple RBI games and nine multiple hit games thus far.

This week, Sabo matched his individual game high of four RBI in a back-and-forth battle of an 11-10 loss to Queens (N.Y.) College on March 6. The Skyhawks got out to an early 6-1 lead, but the Knights fought back with eight runs to take over a 9-6 advantage. Stonehill tallied four runs in the seventh and eighth innings, 10-9, but Queens once again game back for an 11-10 victory.

To cap the week off, Stonehill's 11-10 victory over the Yellow Jackets manifested in another back-and-forth contest. American International broke the game open with an 8-3 lead through the top of the sixth, and Stonehill was able to match the Yellow Jackets' score with one run in the sixth and four in the seventh, 8-8. The Yellow Jackets put two on the board in the top of the ninth, but Sabo launched his second homerun of the season to give Stonehill a one-run lead, 11-10 before pitcher Michael White closed the game in the top of the ninth, stranding two on for American International.

Currently in the NE10, Sabo leads the Conference in RBI (25) and hits (26), fourth in doubles (5), fifth in triples (1), sixth in batting average (.406), 12th in homeruns (2), 15th in slugging percentage (.609), 18th in runs scored (9), and 27th in on base percentage (.437).

A graduate of Wilton High School, Sabo has been named to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, and most recently was recognized on the NE10 All-Conference third team last season.

The Skyhawks travel to Pleasantville, New York on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 for four seven-inning games on Peter X. Finnerty Field with a first pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
