BOCA RATON, Florida (March 4, 2019) – The Stonehill College baseball team, who is ranked No. 7 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II East Region Poll, was outhit by Chestnut Hill College, 10-6, as they fell to the Griffins, 4-1, Monday morning at Lynn University.

For the Skyhawks (5-4), Rob Duarte went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one double, while Harrison Sabo also tallied two hits, swinging 2-for-5. Matthew Rocco and Matt Donlan tallied one hit each to total the Skyhawks hits to six.

The Griffins (1-3) saw Ameir Uzzell go 4-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI, while Jared Healey went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored, one RBI and a sacrifice fly. Eric Gilham was the only other Chestnut Hill player that totaled more than one hit, combining for 2-for-4 at the plate with one run scored, one RBI, and one double.

Chestnut Hill got on board right away in the top of the first as Uzzell singled and moved over to third on a line drive to the outfield from Sam Barletta. Gilham also found the outfield with his hit, driving in Uzzell for a 1-0 lead. In the top of the second, the Griffins added another run with two outs and a first and third situation as Uzzell tallied an RBI with a single to center field.

Stonehill fought back, cutting the deficit to one, 2-1, in the bottom of the frame as Patrick Downey walked to lead the inning and Duarte connected for his first double of the season, driving in Downey for his second RBI of the season. The Griffins retired the side with a strikeout and a ground out.

Both teams' defense stayed true in the next three innings, as neither allowed a run through the fifth inning, 2-1, in favor of Chestnut Hill. In the top of the sixth, Gilham doubled to left field to kick off the inning and Healey sent a long fly ball to right field with one out to drive in Gilham extending the lead to two, 3-1.

The Skyhawks and Griffins each tallied one hit in the sixth and seventh, respectively, before Chestnut Hill notched one more run in the top of the ninth, 4-1, as Ramirez flew out to center field bringing home Healey from third.

The Skyhawks take on Bloomfield College on Tuesday, March 5 in Boca Raton, Florida at Lynn University with a first pitch set for 11:00 a.m.
