Game 1: Southern N.H. 13 – Stonehill 5

For the Skyhawks, seven batters tallied one hit each in the loss, including seeing homeruns from Ben Monte (New Haven, Connecticut/Guilford), Steve Lee (Braintree, Massachusetts/Braintree) and Alexander Joyce (Newton, Massachusetts/Newton North).

Stonehill's Patrick Nicholson (Middleboro, Massachusetts/Middleboro) got out of a bases loaded jam with a fly ball to left center in the top of the first giving up only one run as Caleb Potter sent a long fly ball scoring Zach Goldstein from third, 1-0.

The Penmen scored four runs in the top of the second off of three hits, including an RBI double to right field from Tom Blandini, driving Goldstein and Sean Webster home. Bauer followed up the double with a single through the right side scoring Blandini from second and Bauer stole second and Sullivan advanced home, extending the lead to five, 5-0.

Southern New Hampshire squeezed in two more runs in the top of the third off a two-run triple to right center from Blandini with two outs, 7-0. The Penmen picked up one more run in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly from Potter, 8-0.

Sullivan launched a three-run homerun to left center with one out in the top of the fifth, extending the Penmen's lead to 11-0.

Aran Hamilton-Grenham (Woburn, Massachusetts/Buckingham Browne and Nichols) held the Penmen to two hits and left two runners on base in the next three innings, for the first scoreless innings of the game.

With runners on first and third and one out, Ruth doubled to left center advancing Hernandez from third and Ethan Harris drove in Goldstein from third extending the Penmen's lead to 13.

Stonehill rallied in the bottom of the ninth, as Monte tallied his third homerun of the season with one out. With two outs and runners on first and second, Lee stepped up to the plate and lifted the ball over the left field fence for his third of the season, while Joyce recorded his first of the season putting the ball over the left field fence as well, cutting the deficit to eight, 13-5.

Game 2: Southern N.H. 11 – Stonehill 3

The Penmen scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the second off a sacrifice fly by Kyle Pangallo and a single to left field by Webster, 2-0.

The Skyhawks responded with three runs of its own in the top of the third, as Monte lifted the ball over the left field fence for a three-run homerun, for Stonehill's first lead of the game, 3-2.

Southern New Hampshire did not let up as five hits drove in five runs, putting the game back in the hands of the Penmen, 7-3.

Two more runs in the bottom of the fourth extended the Penmen's lead to six, 9-3. Southern New Hampshire added one run in each of the fifth and sixth innings, 11-3. Stonehill's Eddie Magi (Fairfield, Connecticut/Fairfield Ludlowe) gave up one run in the three innings pitched shutting the Penmen down in the seventh and eighth innings.

Stonehill (8-21, 3-8 NE10) hosts Southern New Hampshire University on Monday, April 17 in a single game on Lou Gorman Field with a first pitch slated for 3:30 p.m.
