EASTON, Mass. (February 28, 2017) – Stonehill College senior pitcher Jeremy Roberts (Reading, Mass./Malden Catholic) has been named to the New England Baseball Journal (NEBJ) 2017 Preseason All-NEBJ Division II Team in the March edition of the journal.

Roberts was tabbed as part of the All-NEBJ Division II team along with nine other student-athletes, including being one of nine representing the Northeast-10 Conference.

Prior to the 2017 season starting, Roberts was also named to the Future Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) second team for his work on the mound with the Nashua Silver Knights. He started and appeared in 10 games, including one playoff game. The senior threw for 57.2 innings, striking out 44 and walking 20 batters. His overall record was 4-2 during the season, where he averaged 2.97 earned runs. The Nashua Silver Knights went on to win its third FCBL Championship in franchise history this season.

As a junior, Roberts had his best year with Stonehill as he threw in 71.1 innings striking out 52 total batters with an ERA of 2.78, his lowest of his career, ranking 10th in the conference. The Reading, Massachusetts native gave up 68 hits and 22 walks, while recording a 4-3 mark, including three complete games.

In the 2015 season, Roberts totaled 47.2 innings pitching a 2-3 season, while averaging 7.93 strikeouts per nine innings for a 3.40 ERA. He also assisted the Skyhawks in reaching the NCAA East Regional bracket for the third time in 20 years. Stonehill also reached the NE10 Championship game for the second-straight season.

Roberts made 10 appearances as a freshman and started five of them for a 3.08 ERA. He earned a 2-2 record on the hill, giving up 34 hits and averaging 5.21 strikeouts per nine innings. Roberts allowed only 17 runs score in his 38.0 innings pitched, for the lowest of his career.

Roberts' list of accolades include being named to the NE10 Honor Roll in the 2015 fall semester and being voted to the Northeast-10 All-Rookie Team his freshman year. He is a graduate of Malden Catholic, where he was a four-year starter. Roberts was named Rookie of the Year as a freshman and earned Catholic Conference All-Star Honors as a freshman, junior and senior. He was also named Conference Pitcher of the Year as a junior and senior.

The Skyhawks opened the 2017 season with a 1-4 record after playing in the Ripken Experience Northeast Challenge, earning its sole victory against Concordia (N.Y.) College, 6-4. Stonehill continues its spring play with a 10-game series in Florida against an array of Division II teams. Baseball opens at home on March 22 with a single game against American International College with a first pitch at 3:30 p.m.
