Bowler, Monte and Klingensmith tallied doubles in the loss

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (February 26, 2017) – The Stonehill College baseball team recorded its first shutout loss in a 6-0 game against Queens (N.Y.) College, Sunday morning in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Stonehill's Michael White (Stamford, Connecticut/Stamford/Canterbury School), Daniel Paul (Farmington, Connecticut/Avon Old Farms), Brandon Jewer (Billerica, Massachusetts/Billerica Memorial) and Aubrey Solomon (Groton, Massachusetts/Lawrence Academy) combined for eight strikeouts and gave up only three hits.

Queens saw Thomas Parish bat 2-for-4 tallying a triple, three RBI, one walk and one run scored. Nick Morena pitched seven complete innings with 12 strikeouts and three hits given up.

The Knights opened the top of the second with a single from Parish and a walk from Joe Morris to get runners on first and second for Kevin Kolesar. The senior advanced to third on the throws, as Parish and Morris scored for a 2-0 lead. Nick Luciano was next up as he reached first on another error, giving Kolesar the opportunity to score once more for a 3-0 lead.

Stonehill missed out on an opportunity in the bottom of the third as the Skyhawks recorded one hit from Klingensmith and left two runners on base.

Queens left three runners on base in the top of the sixth, as Stonehill gave up three walks and struck out two.

The Knights waited until the top of the ninth to extend its lead to six, 6-0. Louis Antos walked to first and advanced to second on a balk. Joseph Pidoto walked with two outs, putting runners on first and second. Andrew Navarez reached first to create a bases loaded situation for the Skyhawks. The Knights' Parish came up big and roped a triple scoring all three Queens' players securing a shutout victory, 6-0.

The Skyhawks (1-4) returns home before heading back down South to Boca Raton, Florida for 10 games from Sunday, March 5 to Saturday, March 11.
